Clever poem with great form. You managed to tell the truth without being insulting. However, in Hollywood land he'll still play the husband to a 22 year old for years to come.

You're right, Muffins. Money and once upon a fame is still a seducer.

Poor PIerce. Many female actresses have let themselves go, too. A few have thinned down and actually look young again.
Aging is a bitch and as you put it a painful fight.

It's interesting to see the then and now pictures on google. It's pretty obvious that plastic surgery and botox are a booming business in LA.

Oh no! I love Pierce Brosnan. Never mind, we can't look gorgeous for ever. As long as he doesn't turn out like Marlon Brando, I'll forgive him!

Another great wee senryu, Shari.

Look gorgeous forever? When I look at Richard Gere, I'm not sure. Marlon Brandon never looked good IMO

The secret is easy--don't look into the mirror. On second thought, maybe that's what Pierce forgot. His wife is always in the way. :-)

Good Morning, Shari,

Your senryu is in fine form and well captures one of life's truisms. The beauty of youth is temporary as it slowly gives way to one's 'old age' appearance. Sometimes I look in the mirror and ask myself, "What in the hell happened to you!" LOL

You've injected the right amount of humor, one of the four characteristics a senryu can have. You've used strong words evoking imagery and imagination. The juxtaposition of thin hair and thick flat, which is just the opposite of youth when we had thick hair and thin abs. lol. The satori line is perfect.

Well done, my friend and this month's Recognized Writer!

What a fight it must be for actors who rely on their looks to get good roles. But to some eyes, he's still handsome, huh? I enjoyed your senryu, Shari, as always.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

The public is unforgiving of actors that grow old. It is even worse for female actors. Great work with this, I got a real kick out of it.

Thanks, sasha. Some have had plastic surgery with distastrous results. Kim Novask for example.

If only youth stayed.senryu (thin hair and thick flab).' How cruel it must be to one's ego to beget thin hair and thick flab. Nothing ever stays the same and nothing lasts forever, that's why I've decided to grow old 'gracefully.' Well done.

I suspect that phrase is highly overrated. I'm not going gentle into stage of life. :-)

Indeed! You are so welcome, Shari.

007 is starting to show his age, isn't he? Okay, so he's not the most prolific Jame Bond in the film franchise's famous history, but he did play Bond a time or two. Sean Connery was the best Bond in my humble opinion. Contrary to popular belief (and apparently Pierce is living proof), gravity is not our friend.

Good one, Shari. ~Dean

Yep, I have proof that gravity does us in. I weigh two and a half pounds more at the end of the day! Thank you so much for the gentleman bowing on my front page. I've been yearning for one of your moving pictures. That's better than the ribbon--almost. :-)
