I couldn't do it even if I absolutely despised the person, much less loved them. Playing God by taking the life of another to end their suffering is just another step closer to hell. While I completely understand that the patients are suffering and long for nothing more than to have a stop put to their misery, it is not our place or right to do so. Assisted suicide is murder, no matter how you slice it (no pun intended).
Still, this is a powerful story, G-Man, and could actually happen, or has happened, I'm sure.
Good work, and good luck...~Dean

Many thanks for your thoughts on the this. They are always greatly appreciated. There is a real dilemma on the one asked, I think. A completely 'unfair' proposal which has massive ramifications for those left behind. Could I do it? I doubt it very much. In the eyes of the law it is murder. morally, I guess it depends on your own beliefs. I hoped this would pique interest and it seems to have. Much appreciated, as always.

My pleasure. I hope my vote helps you out as well...~Dean

Beautiful sleight of hand here, G. You make it sound like a killing and all kind of thrilling, but pull us back to sad reality when we realise it's a death of compassion. Great heartstring manipulation in the devlopment of this tense piece. You've nailed the prompt in fifty, but I think both of us will not catch Mikey and his SHARK!

I think you are right. That SHARK is mighty swift! A lot of different types of entry in the contest, some excellent ones too. Thanks Mark

Gee a really good entry in this difficult to do contest, GMG, it's a really good entry in this 50 word contest, you could almost take this ambiguously, that is a good thing, excellent entry, good luck, blessings, Roy.

Wow, a very powerful poem. You have masterfully displayed a great flash fiction for those of us learning how it goes. Your twist comes in the last few words, and it worked well.

Hi Rhonda, many thanks for reading and reviewing. The word count makes these tricky but there are some great pieces in this contest. I am glad you appreciated this one. Much appreciated.

There were some great pieces. Sometimes the picking is easy, this time quite difficult, but I especially like yours. It was the complete twist in just a few chosen words that got me.

Wow! What an ending! Who would have guessed she was pleading not to save her life but to take it away. Prayer indicates how much she is suffering, but in all honesty, it's not right to put that burden of murder on her husband.

Hiya, I agree. This is such a thorny issue. Being in either position would be complete agony, I think. Many thanks for your thoughts on this. Much appreciated, as always.

I had to vote for this one!

Very awesome micro-mini story, G. I look for character, setting, conflict and resolution in these shorties, and you have it all. Am emotionally powerful ending. Best of luck in the contest.

Karyn :-)

Many thanks for the great review, Karyn. I always like the short ones to make me think a bit more, or wet myself laughing. Went for the first option here! lol Much appreciated

Great job! You certainly completed a short story that was thrilling with just a few words. It actually made me want to read more... The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I felt the title did not represent the story. Besides that, great job! God bless :)

Okay. Bit harsh with the rating but fair enough. Thanks

You stayed within the word limit and told a story. I wonder what will happen to him now. Will he be arrested and convicted of her murder?

This issue is very debatable, I for one could not take anyone's life, whatever the situation. You have captured the essence of this issue well in your short story. Well written and good luck in the contest. Faye

A very debatable issue. I have been working with the elderly in their own homes recently and some of my clients are almost at that stage, and the conversations can be very challenging at times! Many thanks for the review and your thoughts. I really appreciate it.
