Just a wonderful thought-provoking poem. You needed no more lines or words to get your beautiful point across. That was an original and nicely written line of poetry.

This is nice and reminds me of Walt Whitman's "Out of the Cradle . . . ." I notice that you have essentially two lines in a contest that specifies one line, so I don't know how that will fly. But if you wanted to revise, you could make a couple simple changes without altering the sentiment: For example, you could take out the word "breathtaking"--the fact that you thought it might be a cry already implies something extraordinary.

Tanks Debbie, appreciate your review and kind rating. My computer shows only one line, other reviewers never mentioned a second line either. But thanks for the remark, I will keep on checking.

A bird has no other way of communicating other than its song or call. It may indeed have been a cry. Well chosen words and a lovely picture to complement. Good luck in the contest. Faye

I have never heard of a Monostich poem, before. I should try to write one myself. I wondered if when we twit, could we be writing in Monostich?

It's also my first Monostich, never heard about. Every day we learn something new, don't we?
Thanks for reviewing my line.

Your monostich poem is very good and makes us ponder if birds ever do cry. Good luck to you in the contest.

well written and felt those words with the wondering. I have three bird feeders and sometimes I also think that they are in distress or what might they be saying to each other, how intelligently they communicate.

This is a very short piece, but it shows good use of metaphor, the bird singing being the metaphor for expression and freedom. Birds are always a metaphor for expression and freedom, as of course they sing and fly, and I liked the commentary in this piece regarding those things. Five stars!
