My dad's lung cancer came several years after he quit. Them old tars gather into lumps and keep radiating away for decades. Most times yanks say the USA. Ain't we clever?

Yeah I imagine that is often the case. Closing the gate after the horse has bolted. My brother died from chest cavity cancer and wanted to blame the Government. Something to do with being along distance driver ajd long hours etc etc. Thanks for tghe great review sorry about your Dad.

This is a truly dreadful habit in so many ways and as more young people are turning to the "coolness" of smoking, I fear that not even the current horrific campaign ads will stop them. Thank you so much for trying to pass on this very important and worthwhile message. Sorry to hear about your friend and I wish him well.

Hi butterfly. Good of you to come through here. I was really honoured that my dear old preacher friend whom I mentioned in the story complemented me by sharing my Face Book post on his own Time line. Thanks for the great review. Another friend's wife is a compulsive smoker. Warned by her husband to give it away and explaining the horrors...you can guess her reply "It won't happen to me!" How many have said that! Cheers.

Great words of wisdom my friend. I smoked about 15 years but have been stopped about 40 years. I have had no effects from it but you are absolutely right that it can affect you many years down the road.

Well bro pray you don't get any of the cancers Lung or Bladder. The man I shared about was so pleased when I wrote the story on Face book and he has shared it on his Timeline. What a complement! Thanks for the review, Bro.

The effects of smoking can be felt long after a person has given up smoking. You have a good example with the bladder cancer victim. Being treated for that doesn't sound like a fun experience. You make your point very clearly, and it's well directed to young people. Sometimes people don't follow advice, though. Maybe examples like this will help them see the consequences. I recently heard that NY has a $6 tax on a pack of cigarettes. Doubt if that keeps people from smoking, though. judi

Hi Sis OUr country has a severe tax on cigarettes doesn't stop the nerds from keeping at it though. A friend's wife (compulsive chain smoker) claomed when her husband told her about the side affects "It won't happen to me!" She is a Mental Health Nurse...maybe a bit that weay herself! Sad!

Even high taxes don't seem to stop the smokers. They should think of the money they'd save by now smoking. judi

An important message for those stupid people like myself that still smoke. I am pleased however to see less people smoking these days, I guess some of the "Coolness" has faded.

Noticed this on the front page! Good advice to be sure. My wife recently quit. She finally got some good help from above. It's a difficult habit to break and it usually takes a health issue right in front of you. But it can be done. One need only ask. mikey

Thanks for the reminder. I do not smoke but I have dear ones who do. It is so pitiful that those who know the consequences
continue the habit.
Love the illustration

Hi friend thanks for the review. The bro I was sharing about also shared my story that I had posted on Face book on his own time line. I =feel honoured. Glad I only had the teen craze on smoking for a couple of years myself and not on a regular basis. More as someone above said...the 'cool' thing ha.

Thank you for this post, it is a message that needs to be heeded . Smoking is a dirty habit and you smell bad as well. I smoked many years ago, but stopped over 30 years ago. Blessings, Patricia

Hi Sankey,

Yes, the treatment for cancer of the bladder is unpleasant. I gave up smoking in 1981, now if I could just convince my son ...

I have read that the 'additives' the manufacturers put in the cigarettes now are more addictive than before. Plus, I would think many of them are themselves cancer causers.

YES! The additives are a lot more addictive...cos they wanna sell mnore of em of course. Funny how for years the authorities have been after the mary anna as Dad called it Sellers and so on...but cigarettes the legal drug got away for a long time. maybe the Government likes the revenue from the taxes. A lot more in our country now too. Show your son my story.
