What a picture you paint, and, I think, accurately. Except for the rapid fire wit he was a bit of everyone. The true sense of genius was in his own humanity. We all identified. Good writing as well, tells this small story. Kenny

I do so agree that his genius was in his humanity. He was in actuality a gentle soul, perhaps too much so for this life, which can be very hard and unyielding at times.
I'm pleased that you found this a proper tribute to our dearly departed Robin.
Thank you for your excellent review.

Very few could face the reality of his life and poke fun at it. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Hi, Charlie,
Glad you enjoyed this post. You are so right about facing one's life and being able to find the humor in all facets of it. Robin definitely had that gift and I believe it was what sustained him for as long as he was with us.
Thanks for your supportive review, I greatly appreciate it.

Robing, no doubt an icon of all comedians. I like him in Patch, the other were good, but Patch was my favorite. Thank you for sharing this tribute to a stand up guy. Shalom.(Jewish) Peace.

A wonderful tribute to a genius.
You've sketched a wonderful image of a man who entertained us over decades. You've used quotes in all the right places to balance fact, feeling and reminisce. Your essay is entertainingly written and oozes the feelings that you obeviously had for his talent and contribution to humanity.
Loved the Jesus is a Jew humour best.

I'm pleased that you found this tribute enjoyable.
It's true, I adored Robin and felt a deep sense of loss at his passing. He was one of those rare people that brought so much vibrancy and pure energy to the lives of those he touched.
Thank you for your inspiring review.

Thank you so much for this. What a wonderful tribute. So well written and thought out. I especially appreciate that I was able to laugh out loud along with the inevitable sadness that his loss brings. It says a lot that he gave so much that no one expressed any anger when he took his own life. Anger is usually a part of our reaction. As you show beautifully, he more than earned the right to do as he felt he had to do. Sad for the loss, but so grateful for the gain. Just exceptional. mikey

This review in and of itself is truly an eloquent tribute to Robin.
I tried to honor this lovely man through his humor, as it was the essence of who he was. I believe humor was his lifeline while he was with us; our laughter was what sustained him in his darkest hours. Unfortunately, the struggle became too hard to overcome when the laughter was not enough.
Again, thank you for your excellent review.

Very well thought out and delivered. You capture Robin Williams very well. Yes, he was brilliant. To me, he was comedy's answer to Jimi Hendrix. Both immensely gifted, both so deeply troubled. It's very sad that somehow both men could not really share their troubles.
We need to be more observant and available for severely depressed people.
Peace,
Mike

I agree with your comparison of Jimi Hendrix and Robin Williams. Just as Jimi had perfect pitch in music, so did Robin when it came to comedic timing. They were both brilliant and tortured souls, but they gave us so much in the brief time they were here.
Thanks, Mike, for you excellent review.

You got it, Marisa. Were Jimi alive today, he'd have very likely outdone himself ten times over! He had some plans, but...:(
Peace,
Mike
Then too, we can say, in a sense, Robin, Jimi, and many like them...go on...:)

This is written beautiful and flows well.
I was working in the Museum of Natural History Today
And we talked about Robin's portrayal of TR.
The magic and mysterious of a talented,,I'll,and troubled man will always inspire us.

I too loved Robin Williams.
I think this write is both beautiful and accurate.
You have described him as he was and I would like to suggest you try and get a copy of this to his family. I'm sure they would appreciated your essay.

Sigh! I had to fight not to dissolve into a sobbing heap. I also loved Robin Williams as a great comedic genius. He was the kind of guy a TV host didn't have to prompt but neither could he be controlled. Johnny Carson just laughed his heart out at him and let him be. Oprah tried to relax but he obviously scared the crap out of her. I just loved him. I'm still mourning him. Like you, I feel ineffably sad that he could make all of us laugh while he fought such a depth of sadness in himself. I hope he's surrounded by laughter, wherever he is. I figure God has pulled up a chair for him and poured him a beer. No drinking problems in heaven. I loved the man. Thanks for this lovely tribute to a comedic genius and a great actor. Nice work, Marisa.

You were so right about Robin when it came to his dealings with TV hosts. As Billy Crystal said he "was like light bouncing off a mirror", you never knew from one moment to the next what he would say or do; good for some and terrifying for others, but that was what made him "Robin".
I so enjoyed your comments about Robin and your lovely review. I deeply appreciate the six stars, as well.
