A beautifully penned poem. It is amazing how many of us were touched by Maureen's strength, grace and dignity. May God bless all who are saddened with this final struggle. Thank you for sharing this, my friend~Debbie

Jimi - this is so touching, so moving and so loving. Your abab rhyme scheme gives your poetry a lovely flow.
I don't know Maureen well, but I have read many of her poems and have been inspired by her writing and by her courage to battle MS - I didn't know she also battles cancer. To me, she has always been a symbol of strength and kindness.
Sometimes, even in comas, one hears the voices of those they love telling them that is okay to choose. I think it offers a sense of contentment that allows that person to let go.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Maureen should rally and return to health. She's a fighter - but I also accept that that fighting may not be something she wants to continue to do.
Maureen has inspired so many here at Fanstory and those she loves in her real world.
Your poem is simply beautiful. I hope her children read it to her. I'm sure that she will hear it.
Such a endearing close:
whether in life's greatest sorrow, or immeasureable [immeasurable] joy
We'll celebrate you[,] Braveheart
Our Celtic Warrior's
Victory.

Beautifully stated in poetic verse. Again I am so very impressed with your writing for her. So true! Either way it may go she was/is a gift to all who have come into her presence. Through writing or having the blessing of meeting her in person. Again a beautiful write Jimi.
On more than one level. Pearl

Not only is this a well written deep felt poem, filled with encouragement and positive reinforcement for Maureen, I feel that anyone who reads your tender words will be immensely blessed by your gift. This warmed my heart. If I ever go through something as difficult, I pray you are in my court at that time!
Hugs,
Jj

jlsavel: six star worthy (I'm out). I don't think anyone could express our feelings for Maureen and all that she gives to us, any better than you have. This is strong and beautiful, like Maureen. livelylinda

Wow what a beautiful, moving piece of poetry. I do not Maureen as I haven't been on here for a long time but your words have given me an insight into her. I hope she will be at peace in whatever form that may take.

Excellent poem. Heartfelt message. Brilliantly penned.
My best lines were this:
With valor you've forged the bleak Abyss of Despair
Climbed the daunting peaks of Relentless Pain
Trekked the dismal valley of Incurable Pass
Well done!!

I don't know Maureen very well, Jimi, but it's obvious she is much respected and loved on site. She has also been through so much pain and is very brave.
You create some fabulously apt and original metaphors in this wonderful tribute, and I sure wish Maureen all the best.
Best wishes, your friend, Ray xx

Comment from Dom G Robles
I like the message of this poem. A message for Maureen if she still has the ability to think feel what is best for her, she then, probably has to she would have her choice for she has had enough. With all the sufferings that she has under gone God in His mighty wisdom should decide for her. Cancer, I was told entails a lot of pain. My niece had that several years ago and at the end she finally gave up at our own blessings. I agree fully what the writer is trying to say. My sincere sympathies.
