This was a wonderful attempt to get into the heart of someone who remembers these immense tragedies. I visited a place called Mauthausen just outside of Vienna that had been a concentration camp in WW II. I can assure you there is most definitely regret, sorrow, indignation and guilt there. These are very holy sites that, upon entering, one can feel the horror and pain to the very core if one has any sort of empathy at all.
Thank you for writing an important piece.

michaelcahill--This reads like a persona poem: a poem in
which the poet writes from the point of view of another
person or thing. Scribe's personification of flora is a
melancholic elegy, satirically lamenting audaciousness
"...on flowers growing where a death camp once was." The
title, artwork and verbiage soberly and poetically addres-
ses the historic morbid theme. teafor2

Hope springs eternal, I guess and even in such a landscape as this Nature finds a way to connect with us and renew our flimsy, challenged hope.

The Flowers of Auswchwitz is a good poem written about the flowers blooming on a mass and massive death camp. The poem is wonderfully composed with a good presentation and has a nice theme.

I felt this poem is important and you did such a great job writing it. You captured the emotion and it stood out in your writing. No suggestions it's great.

I like the idea of gaudy, colorful flowers "desecrating" a site so solemn for humans. Your poem reminded me of that Victor Hugo thing - "Oh, Nature - how you forget!"

Once again, you shine..it is great to put yourself in someone else's state of mind and try to feel what they would feel.. It is as though we each Are only single flower clinging together desperately drawing attention from "the graveyard" or from "mother earth" or from the heavens..no matter which.. it's never good to be desperately on our own. A really good write.

I thought this was a very nice poem, written in the free style form, that talks about the flowers of Auswchwitz. Had a nice picture to accompany the poem.

thank you for your kind review. I liked the picture too because it had some barbed wire in it just as a reminder of the millions that were slaughtered there. regards, mike
