Soul, heart and spirit are words that not only are not seen by the physical eye, but also elude the exact definition, I suppose the sound and the mind are the same, but the spirit is sometimes thrown around descriptively with gay abandon, but I like, the spirit is given life eternal by God, that had to be the Human "essence"beautifully written Carol, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you for the review and comments. Soul is word many think they understand, but if you look at every time it is mentioned in the Bible you might come away with second thoughts. I thnk when our spirt becomesone with the Holy spirit God gives us.that sprit will live on. There are evil spirits that won't continue forever

I think you've done a good job covering all possibilities and beliefs. As for me, it connects with God. You have very good rhyming throughout. Good luck in the contest. This is a touch subject to write about.

Thank you so much for the review and your comments. Some think soul and spirit and interchangable. I'm not sure they are. I think man's spirit connects to the Holy spirit and becomes one with it, but there are so many different ways people see things.

Written on August 2012 and reposted in 2021... I wonder if the 12 and 21 are some sort of sign? Just musing I guess. But I so enjoyed the poem and the thoughts on our souls. A bit of rattling my cage today, telling me to remember all souls.

Some good thoughts about the existence of the soul.
Your poem examines the concept of the soul, what happens at death, and the purpose of the soul. I guess our ideas of the soul began with the way our religions have introduced this concept to us as children and then later what we tend to believe based upon our faith.
