Summer Fades to Fall

Wonderful job of creating an emotion--nostalgia for the loss of summer. Love the use of colors and the phrases: summer tiptoed out; Fall's rainy breeze wrapped.... The last line along with the picture sells the poem. Great work with assonance and alliteration.

This is a really pleasant little poem that really does capture the essence of this time of year. Summer does leave in a subtle way. One minute it's there and then it's gone, so "tiptoe" is an excellent word choice. As for fall, well, it certainly does wrap you with that chill in the air, the cool breezes, the drizzle. You mention the hummingbird feeder left behind as a reminder of summer. That creates a beautiful picture and one many readers will identify with. Nicely done.

Thank you for such a helpful review about my poem--I just review that are friendly and helpful. Yes, the little birds were just there and now I don't see them even though we still have some pleasant days:)

This poem really got to me. I could see/feel summer slipping away and being replaced by autumn. Loved the tip toe line. Technically perfect Tanka.

Thank you so much--maybe I weaved in meanings I wasn't aware of, like summer fading to fall--that's probably me, ha! This is a nice review. I'm glad you liked the "tiptoe."

Very nice...
Yep, when the hummers leave, summer is difinitely over.
Though hopefully winter will not be too bad this year.

I just finished mine. Think our last hurrah was last week. Now it's leaves and pine needles. I like your poem especially the last line. Kind of makes it final.

Nice tanka. We're all dreading the end of summer and the beginning of winter, yet it seems we're all still having some pretty nice weather. Good job here.

Nice Tanka ... nice ending to summer into fall. Love the imagery, flow, and the use of the line "rainy breeze wrapped 'round me". I can feel that.
