I liked this: Do I return home or attempt to talk to Anna's parents again? Her mom appeared concerned. I think the ornery old fart was too. He's just too stubborn to admit it. :)
Troy was right about the old fart. Nice touch there at the end.

A wonderful short story Barbara. The flow in this story is concise and appropriate. The feelings and emotions you weave into the tapestry of this story are wonderful. You kept my attention throughout the whole story. I read one of the other chapters you have and both are marvelous. Great job and keep on writing!!!!!!

These religious old farts are stubborn old mules. I used to live with an old preacher and his wife so the old man in this narrative rang true to life to me. These people can be cold, hearless, Godless hypocrites. But in their eyes, I was the devil incarnate because I refused to conform to their particular religious beliefs.
