I was overjoyed to see you had posted this chapter, and after James's speech I have tears in my eyes! You have written this so well that it feels like a real event - not fiction. This is so well done!

It is actually based on a real event. I was once interviewed by a very rude and obnoxious television reporter...this partially what I said (although the interview was not about a murder) and what I later wished had said. I had fun writing this chapter.

Well done I'd say! Sounds like it was invaluable experience â?? G

Since the speech James made made up a lot of this chapter, it had to be a knockout, and it was. Really well done, impressive in its straightforwardness and lack of euphemisms.

Hi, Sasha, this is ultimately fabulous! Though this is nearly the same as he last version, it touches me as it touches Mac, Mom, and most of the reporters. I'm also very proud of James. I was in the reporters' shoes once, and now I feel bad about it ... :)

Not all reporters are obnoxious. But for some reason when some are covering a major story they seem to go off the deep end and ask stupid questions and are only looking for the sensational side of the story, not the truth. Don't take it personal, I have met a few that were very conscientious and worked hard to get the truth...sadly too many are the opposite.

I feel I repeat myself in every review, but you did another wonderful job.
The heartbreaking realization that the man that was my father never existed. (the man WHO was)

I hate both the word 'who' and 'whom', they are right up there with 'got'...words that never should have been invented, at least not for people like me. That aside, I will correct the error. I am thrilled you liked this one and you can repeat yourself all you want, it doesn't bother me one bit.

Love Jame's intelligent and hear-felt soliloquy.
There was such wisdom in what he said.
Would that people in real life would call press conferences and say something of this heft and weight.
Bravo!!!
Looking forward to my next fix!!!

This is actually similar to an interview I had with a television reporter in Seattle. Needless to say, it was never aired. Glad you liked it. I had fun writing it.

This chapter took James' character to a new level. He is strong and (as we know) very intellient. Mom is coming into her own too. This is a great book. Can't wait for the next post.

Wow! I'm in awe after James' speech to the reporters. There is not a thing typical about him; he's an extraordinary human being. I could never summon up the strength he possess. This was another magnificent read.

Thank you so very much. As you can tell, I am not particularly fond of reporters and had fun with this chapter.

Hi Smurph,
I haven't read the preceding chapters but because of the way you wrote this one I felt as if I had. What a horror to find out your father was a killer...or was he? You have good writing skills which made this a compelling and provocative read. I had no trouble putting myself on the courthouse steps and could have cheered as the reporters were told off in style..wishing I had a six for you. Blessings, chey

Thank you so very much. I am especially pleased knowing you say this not having read previous chapters.

Having James speak first would have helped his mother a lot. She probably had planned what she was going to say with the Lawyer but once James had spoken it was little to say.
Good chapter as always..

James can be a formidable presence when necessary, seeing Mom's so vulnerable left him no choice. I am pleased you enjoyed this chapter.

Hi Smurphy
Another great flowing read.
Well, James is really hitting the high notes now. What a pity he's not a real guy. We need someone like him to put the media in it's place.
Fabulous writing.

I'll tell you a secret....many years ago I was confronted by a group of obnoxious reporters and I swore if I ever got the chance I would find away to put them in their place...James's speech came from the heart (my heart). Glad you liked this one.
