Once again the story is brilliant and relevant and heart warming. You write with such passion Beth. I hope one day that you see Bozo again...I think you will. xoxo Kiwi

Beth, I always read story poems aloud and this one reads with a good steady cadence and strong abcb rhymes.
What a poignant story of your guardian angel dog who appeared out of nowhere and after a time of protecting you, disappeared the same way. Brooke

Thank you Brooke, I'm happy you find that it reads well read aloud. He was an amazing dog. I've never had another dog so brave as he was.

No fault found in this biographical tribute to your childhood canine companion. Isn't it a wonder sometimes, how God sees to our needs...even before we realize them ourselves? Thank you for sharing this well-written verse. Perfect specimen in the artwork! Best always--S.

I love this story you've recounted in the poem. Good luck in the contest.
but Bozo was there at my side.
He'd attack and oft be bitten,
and he'd swell, but he never died.
This really says a lot about Bozo's loyalty. I wonder why he' not so affected by the poisonous snake bites.
He vanished the same way he came,
but we'd had a wonderful run.
I hope nothing bad happened to him. It does seem odd that he would disappear just like that seeing how loyal he was. Maybe you're right, he's a guardian angel and he's needed more urgently elsewhere.
I grieved, and we scearched everywhere,

Thank you for the review and comments and for catching my spag. The first few times he was bitten, we thought he would die. His head swelled double. This was a time no one took dogs to Vets. Vets only treated big animals like cows and horses. I think eventually he must have become immune to the poison.

Bozo does sound like a great dog. I got a good sense for his traits and loyalty from your well written poem. Thanks for sharing this story in a poem and good luck in the contest.

I really enjoyed your poem/story about Bozo. It moved smoothly and authentically I was not surprised when you categorized it a biographical.

Bozo was truly a beautiful dog. I wouldn't want to let go of him either, and I'm so happy he stayed and became your friend. I sometimes think the little animals were placed in our lives for a special reason. Your poem in a story is a wonderful entry.

How lovely! I share a similar experience with a stray kitten that appeared on the doorstep of my kibbutz lodge. I named her Shalom. I believe that she too was sent to help me endure the three months I spent in Israel, far far away from home. For anyone who does not believe...read this! Thank you!

Thank you so much for the review and for sharing your experience with the kitten. I believe it isn't an accident these animals are in our lives.

OH NO! Beth, what a sad, but beautiful thing...I too had a shephard...her name was Dusty and she disappeared from our yard because someone stole her. I heard a car door as I was napping, and couldn't wake up quick enough...I mourned her for years. I hope Bozo and Dusty both got taken care of. But I believe in guardian angels. I think Bozo was one. I am so sad today. But, I should be happy that you were taken care of like that. HUG...susan

Hi Susan. THank you for the review and the nice comments. I had a dog named Dusty once too. He was a mixed breed that everyone thought was a full blood Weimaraner. But that is another story.
