I'm so sorry for your loss. I do hope that even if he is not physically with you anymore, your father's spiritual presence will continue to bless your life and the lives of all his loved ones. There is a lovely custom in Spanish speaking Catholic countries where a candle is lit in memory of a loved one on the death anniversary.

Your poem is beautiful - simple, sincere and poignant.

Thank you so much for your kind review. The loss is deep but God's love is eternal so I live with the hope of seeing him again one day in heaven. Thank you so much for sharing your tradition with me, we will definately have to do something each year to remember the man he was and to rejoice in who he is in heaven. Blessings, Katie

I like your poem.
Your message is wonderful and so true. We take the time we have with our loved ones so much for granted. But no matter how much time we have we always want more.
I like your title.
Great image and visual presentation.
Your words flow so well.
Love every word but especially the first and last stanzas.
I've had to say goodbye to a niece, a brother, and a best friend out of the blue and all of a sudden. One day they were alive, the next they were dead.. and to my father who had various illnesses for 20 years, either way, it's tough but I think the unexpected death is worse, though you are never prepared for it, no matter how much you try to be.
So, I send you a hug because I know how difficult it is.
And you wrote a great poem.
And nice to meet you.
I also go by Katie
Katie

Like they say--time flies and specially, these days it is flying faster; you are right we feel like it always ends so soon, time demands that we respect it and capitalize on it for a better tomorrow. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

This is so beautiful. Your words speak volumes to your love and devotion. While it is personal, we each could take this into our own lives and apply it. The presentation and color compliment your work wonderfully. Well done Katie,
Your mother -Judy

Thanks mom, I'm not sure if I will like this as a song, but I think the poem keeps getting better. Thank you for the six stars!

This is a very true poem. Your words read very smoothly. The imagery in your words are very good. I think everyone will be able to relate to your writing. Tommorow is never promised. It is a gift. But no one thinks that way. Great job, Shirley

We certainly learn as we get older, just how fast time does fly...
I remember when I was young thinking I was invincible....
All of that was too far from my door....
You can tell how very much you loved your dad..
And what a great guy he was...
I truly believe that the greatest treasure and gift in life, are people...
But I can see you feel the same way...
Very moving!
Bryan

I loved this poem, I like the message, the presentation, the apparent sincerity of the writter. However, it did make me shed a tear. It could been my own life story (about the 63 years I spent with my husband). However time pauses for no one and I have learned to accept what comes and go on ith my life. I believe this poem could be reprentsentive of many who read it. Cheery.

Cheery, what a wonderful compliment. Although this was personal for me, I very much wanted it to be something that others could relate too. 63 years with your husbands, wow! What a wonderful expample for me. I appreciate your kind review. Blessings, Katie

Katie, very beautiful, poignant poem on how time slips by unnoticed until we're faced with a loved one's departure. The repetition of "too soon" is very effective, and the artwork you selected is a perfect match for this piece. Death is but another step in the cycle of life, and I'm sure all of us will reunite with those who left before us. Thank you for sharing this excellent work, my friend. Only one suggestion : edit to enlarge the font to improve legibility. Otherwise, excellent !

P.S. I was also very close to may Dad and he died on March 2007 (Alzheimer's). As I stayed by his bedside, I wrote him "Vigil For My Father". If you feel like it, I invite you to read it in my portfolio.

I would be honored to read the piece you wrote for your father. It is in those emotional times that I find my pen my closest friend. Thank you for your review. I appreciate the suggestion to enlarge the print. I will do it.

My father is also very dear to me and my sustaining hope is the fact that I will see him again one day. Thank you Blessings, Katie

You are so right. And even though parents stay longer; still, when they die, you are a child again, not wanting them to leave... You poem is very heartfelt and loving.
