It seems that I am seeing a lot of poetry on this subject lately. Maybe it is because we are reaching the time when day light hours are at their shortest. I try to keep the curtains open to let in as much light as possible. Also I buy the "daylight" light bulbs. You describe the darkness well.

I know the shorter days are difficult for me-especially when the time changes and it gets dark at 4:30. I do use the full spectrum light bulbs and try to just ignore the darkness by sitting ay the computer and not looking outside until after the sun sets. it is always a struggle until Thanksgiving when the holiday spirit gives me a bit of a lift.

That is the worst
Unable to feel joy, pain
Darkness, light
Contented
Nothing matters
I don't matter.

Gosh, that is really bad ... to think you don't matter. Imagine someone really feeling such a thing? Gosh, you see how you have started my imagination rolling ... your words did that.

Thank you kindly for your review. I have suffered from depression for many years, but it has been a long while since I felt that bad. Thank God for that!

I could see the small sliver of light coming through the darkness. I could feel the heaviness of depression, hopelessness, and no joy. This was very well written with descriptive emotions at play. Great writing.

Your poem is well written. It easily touches the reader on a deep emotional-level. Your choice of words and description was perfect.

Great job! And thanks for sharing this.

You've described a state of depression very well! "Nothing matters, I don't matter." Those are sad words to hear. But somewhere in this darkness is a glimmer of hope. That's what we all wish for. Great poem! V.A.

Thank you for your kind review. I have had depression for a number of years, but haven't been to the point of hopelessness for a while.

Thought provoking and brutally honest. I truly appreciate an author who can let the reader in to witness their world. Disturbing and dark, waiting for the smallest sign of hope...You seem to have intimate knowledge of the subject matter. Great work! I loved this!
