That's about all I can stay on a diet too. Self-control is not one of my strong areas when it comes to food. Thank you for sharing this writing prompt entry with us. I enjoyed reading.

Thank you Barbara. I appreciate the review. I wish I'd never need to go on another diet but that isn't the case as lone as I still am alive.

A delightful story. I thought at first that the chocolate would melt under the pad and be a mess. I wouldn't stop at one either. Easy to see why a sick tummy would make you forget about candy for a while.

Thanks for a great review. I don't remember the chocolate melting, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had it all over me.

Beth, you made me smile when I read about you and your candy bars. Candy bars are a treat. You must have collected several from the store. You really had will power not to eat them. Like your story.

Thank you Rosemay. Yes I'd collected 17 candy bars but eating 10 was enough to make me plenty sick.

I bet you were very sick after eating that many candy bars at,one time,Beth. Wow. I fell in love with those Hostess Chocolate Cupcakes when I was a teen. I learned self control when I started putting on pounds as well. Well done, Dear. Nancy:)

'I remember...' is an extremely useful start to a nonfictional story, and you have used it to good effect. You give us a memory that makes me chuckle - your limitations made you sick! Then you link your primary memory to a thread that runs through your life. Well done. kay

This essay, The Day Willpower Died, tells a funny story of childhood which ironically rolls over into all our adulthoods. The need to fix ourselves usually only lasts a couple of weeks until we decide we're not that bad.

I love it Beth, and I must say that your willpower at that young age was extremely admirable. Now, I have never had a sweet tooth, and never will have. My downfall is I like food albeit healthy stuff. I loved your story. Ulla:)))

Good for you, I hated the healthy stuff but i do like it now. I still like sweet juicy red grapes. But I like most vegetable and fruits now. Thanks for the great review.

In title, Will Power should be Willpower, otherwise it reads as if you are writing about someone named Will Power.

In paragraph one, paragraph three, paragraph four, and the last paragraph, will power should be willpower.

"create most space" should be create more space.

Not surprised eating all those candy bars at one time made you sick.

Lesson well learned, and remembered, no doubt.

Thank you Brett, years ago when I wrote that I made it two word to try to personify it but it doesn't make sense so I've changed it.

I think willpower is one word Beth. Kids have amazing willpower when they want something and I know this from experience. And yes you need willpower when dieting and also to change bad habits like smoking and drinking alcohol. I retain an enormous amount of willpower when there is something I want, I can be really focused. It stands you in good stead in life, I enjoyed your musings here Beth, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly, When I first wrote this years ago, I was trying to personify the word in the title, but it doesn't make since so I changed it to one word.

Dang. First, I released a piece seconds ago that could have fit in this contest but wo be me I sent it ahead on its own.
I find your story fascinating, for candies long gone, came tumbling in. My favorite was b-o-n-o-m-o Bonomo turkish taffies in Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry and banana. Then there were dots and jujubees. Teaberry and licorice gum, and gooey dollars red coins. My favorite place on earth was a penny candy store with stands of marvelous choices.

This was a old one I released again, The contest was over long ago so you didn't miss anything. Yes there were some delicious candies that are no loger around. Still most of those penny candies weren't chocolate. Remember those wax creation that had sweet liquid in them.

    I do - bottle caps - weren't they?

Yep, little bottles and then there was the sweet wax halloween lips and teeth you chewed.

Why did we like those lips. Thinking back, they were nearly carnivorous.

We were kids and didn't know any better. They were pretty gross.
