Wow, I can't wait to read the second part. The first few paras' gripped me, but the remainder of the story was so very good. The undertone of ... something, not yet explained held me. I would have liked to have read this all in one go. Hurry and post the second part. The descriptive was wonderful. Well done, a great read.

Please forgive me for this cut and paste response. I've been having a bit of a thriller myself - been clearing trees, shrubs and weeds and a ringer called poison ivy jumped into the match. I lost and my eyes now resemble a prize fighter--swollen to the max. I can squint today so I wanted to let you know I appreciate your reading and will try to continue the story tomorrow or Sunday. Thank you for your continued support and understanding...Smiles, Carol

An exciting, interesting chapter, fast paced with excellent dialogue and descriptions. Your characters are well developed and believable, well done.

Well done, I can't wait for part two. You've set up a good "who dunnit", and make the reader wonder if it will be done at all LOL. Sounds like Carrie needs to either ditch the boyfriend or get used to a life living under his agenda. But who knows she may not live long enough to worry about it.

Carol, you are the queen of short story writing. As always, the story draws the reader in, and I love the way you left the ending up in the air. Is he evil? Will she see him again? Did he kill the missing girl?

One spag:

"That'd be Paradise Lodge." He[His] smile broadened.

Thanks for sharing and warmest regards and hugs, Marijke

What or who could be down that mountain? The Ranger seems to be danger in the making. I don't think this paradise is the paradise to leave home for.
Well done, Buck

This sounds like it is going to be a real thriller! I can't wait to read the next one when you are finished. That Ranger was a bit strange i think! really talented writing here... Sarabran :)

James is having an affair and the Park Ranger is a serial killer. How am I doing? I am sure you have a twist in this that I haven't imagined yet. Great writing.

Carol, this is another definite winner. Had me hooked from the start, as my mind was racing in many directions, trying to specualte the roller coaster ride you're about to take us on.

I'm waiting for the next chapter.

So there will be a part 2? Thank goodness. I was thinking this is a contest entry and I waited for your ending. Then I scrolled up and saw that this is a part 1. I will be waiting for the next then, to know what'll happen.Interesting first chapter, Carol.
