Since the beginning of mankind people have died in their belief that it is God's will. My God would not say Hey go and kill him because he doesn't believe in this religion or that. I'm with you Z

ZeeZee - My favorite ranter is back. And you certainly have picked a controversial topic to rant about. To me, God is in each of us, individually. Not organized religion. My theory is: She created the Universe and is just watching it evolve, like a clockmaker (wind her up and watch the results). It's up to us to make of the world that She has handed to us. Evidentally, some religious fanatics think otherwise, and I bet their decisions are based on greed for power and money.

Enjoyed your rant, and the author's notes hit a chord with me: Am I God?

Charlie

I understand your negativeness. I use to an agnostic and wouldn't believe anyone because of the hypocrisy I grew up with. But I truly wanted to know the truth. If we want to know, God will reveal himself in a way we can no longer deny. Yes, He hates all the violence and atrocities people have done in His name. But He will not take people's free will away, because then, all we would be is robots. He will only control what we want and allow Him to control with love and for our own good. So I ask you to anwer to yoursef, do you really what to know if He is real and loving. If not, you'll never know in this lifetime. It has to come from Him!! You wrote your story with passion. Love, Jean

No Virginia there is no Santa Clause. I am sickened and stunned at the violence...not ever able to distance or desensitize myself to murder...horrific doesn't even come close does it.

I believe in me. And I have problems with that sometimes.

I am constantly reminded of mans inhumanity to man...Surely no loving sentient being could ever have created such evil. To what purpose? Simply to make the lesser beings aware that a difference exist?

All i ever have are more questions Zee. Thanks for the thought provoking read. We all need a good wake up call...because this sick old world seems to have overslept.

Direct and to the point, Zee. Very well written essay with clear thoughts and construction. I share many of the beliefs and abhore the violence justified by religious differences. Perhaps as long as we fear God we will also fear each other. The question is why are we compelled to kill what scares us, and why, then, have we not "killed" God? I appreciate you bringing the new Nigerian violence to light in this piece. If you make us face reality, perhaps we can find a solution. Not convinced, but hopeful. D

Well, even tho, I was raised as a "methodist", as an adult I always question religion. Bill Mahr is a brave soul, who even made a movie about this subject, which I need to see. I desparately want something to believe in, I just do NOT know what. GOOD, EXCELLENT, and HONEST writing. YOU should be a columnist miss!! Hugs, Susan

thanks much Susan. I, too, was raised a Methodist. It was nice. It was friendly. But our church cast out Catholics, Jews, and Blacks. It made me stop and think.. God must hate a thinker. Zee Zee

I know, it is very disconserting, if you really start to think about all the details of any religion. But what are we supposed to do, when it is a culture, and something "thrown at us" daily.? I just don't know...my philosophy is, do the best you can, and find out the truth, the day you die...this is all i can tell my son when he asks me...thanks again, I love your work!! Susan

God made a mistake by not sinking tha Ark. This is a very well written story proposing to give an Atheist point of view. I would agree that Christians like to profess their faith, not live it. No I'm not an Atheist.

It isn't "religion" as such that's evil, but rather "organized religion" that is EVIL!! And it is not "devout believers" that feel superior but rather devout CHURCHaholics. If one has a conscience that is alive and well, they know God. "These people who proclaim to be killing in the name of their God are just bigots and racist" Absolutely! This is a really good rant Zee. This news was devastating on so many levels. You've written a smart and (almost - I would add "organized" before "religions) accurate. Good to read something from your pen. Atrocities of this nature will NEVER stop as long as there is ORGANIZED religions harboring bad seed finatics of the highest order who must instill their fuckeduppedness on anyone who disagrees or has a mind of their own that just happens to follow other beliefs and doctrines. well done

I often wonder if these atrocities committed in the name of God are not really a group of people looking for someone to hate. Hate seems to be in style these days.

I simply do not believe in organzied religion. I do not need to be told what is right and what is wrong. I had a mother for that.

Good write.
