I thought haiku was 5-7-5, but what do I know! This is perfect - very visual images, even though it gave me a chill ... not a big fan of the cold - hee? Great write! Lea Ann

A regular haiku is 5/7/5/ but the writing prompt asked for 3/5/3 ... Unfortunately, I had two writing prompts already and it wouldn't allow this one...so now I must revamp the haiku. Anyhonw, I am glad that you enjoyed it. Carol

I love this Haiku! You said it all here describing winter. So well done, and I love its icy breath and frozen tears, enjoyed the picture you painted. I'm afraid it's coming here next week so will try to stay warm in front of the fireplace, lol.

I like this personification of winter with its icy breath and frozen tears.
The picture you have chosen is a perfect accompanyment to your words.

This is a very nice haiku for the prompt. Literally, I read it, read the phrase, "frozen tears", and said aloud, "Hmm, interesting." I like your descriptive words. You did a nice job using them to capture winter's cold side. Good work and good luck in the contest!

Hi Carol, This haiku is fantastic. It's so full of icy imagery and your satori line "frozen tears" is wonderful. This certainly creates a very vivid moment in nature. You've done an excellent job, and I truly enjoyed experiencing this wintry scene! The picture you chose is perfect as well. So vibrant! Good luck in the contest. It's a terrific entry. - Karen ;-)

Thanks for the encouragement...I messed up though. I didn't qualify for today's prompt so I put it in another contest and forgot that today's was 3/5/3 and the other one is 5/7/5/ so now I have to change the whole thing...I am losing my mind....
His icy breath stings
As winter shows itâ??s angry wrath
Trees shed frozen tears
What does that sound like...honest...I like the other one better but I am stuck,,,

Hi Carol! Honestly, I'm not sure about the personification aspect in nature haiku. I don't think that its a good idea to use "he". We need someone like Alvin to clarify! Sorry, because the poem sounds really good, but haiku rules get tricky.
