Hi there - I love the originality of your poem - the idea of writing a love letter to Elvis, and the way you have successfully incorporated many of his song titles is inspired. I was going to say for this to be even better, you could maybe have another look at the use of the word heart within the first few stanzas, the image of a heart hearing doesn't really work for me; then i thought that a giddy letter from a woman/girl to someone who she is madly in love with could easily use such glaring images, so i'm not sure. The first few stanzas are simply a little lumpy in their construction, but when you reach the stanzas with the song references, it flows much better. Nice work - J

This is a clever poem, late or not. Many of us were in love with Elvis. I like the way you included the song titles in your poem. The poem had nice rhyme and rhythm and it was fun to read.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable poem that has a good rhyming scheme and incorporates a majority of the KING's top hits withing the body of the poem. A good selection that follows the contest rules.

Miss Merri,

You picked a worthy object for your unrequired love letter. The heartthrob every girl on the planet wanted! (lol).

He was the most charming, charismatic, sweet and generous man who ever lived. "Are you lonesome tonight?" is my favorite song of all times.

Your poetic letter is very well written, I loved the pleading tone of a besotted high school girl; your great rhymes; your passion.

Good luck in the contest, it should do very well.

Thank you so much fanstoria. I have to admit, I like much of Elvis' music, but wouldn't call myself a loyal fan. I was just having fun.

I am a BIG Elvis fan. Need I say more? I love this poem and could have written it myself, as could many other women in the world. Good one.

Absolutely super! A real example of how a fun poem can also comply with all the rules of rhyme and meter, which work to make it a delight to read. Very clever and unintrusive introduction of all the song titles as well. A great way to start my reviewing session. Sally

Thank you so much Sally. I'm glad you enjoyed the fun poem and I agree... the rhyme and meter should be right on, in any rhymed poem.

You clever clever person. As an avid Elvis fan, always was, always will be, this reverberated around my soul. And the use of the song titles is wonderful.
The rhyme is constant and good, the whole poem flows freely and has great rhythm.
Good luck in the contest
Warmest Regards
Marijke

Nice heartfelt poem...you and a billion others have these feelings. I grew up in the era when Elvis first became a giant in Rock and roll. We watched our girlfriends swoon over him and needless to say we were jealous. LOL..Your poem s well done and I wish you lots of luck in the contest...Bob

Thank you so much, Bob, for those sympathetic comments. I have to admit, it wasn't all that "heartfelt" but I'm so glad you considered it "well done.
