Oh! this is so cute. What a gorgeous picture this brings to mind. Hey, trickle treat to you Young Carol. Great little poem and now I know what a septolet is. (on first sight the word conjured up the thought of a septic toilet.)
So glad it wasn't. Did't feel like dealing in more poo.
Love the rhyme , great choice of words to paint this adorable image in my mind. I'll remember your words next time a little tot comes knocking at my door. In fact, last weekend a little knock on my door , came as a cute surprise. 3 little kids. a little boy about 5, standing there with a beaming smile, says" have a lovely day ". and from there we all had a funny conversation. the other 2 were identical twins about 10yrs. Wonders of kids.....
great job young Carol..... luv Mel

Excellent art work which coordinated with the poem.
Words are good and the poem is with smooth flow.
A septolet poem with 14 words and seven lines, its not easy but you did the great job.
Best of luck in the contest.

Still in the Halloween mood? Attractive poem in septolet form, Carol, with a matching picture, too. The second verse is so typicallyt children:
"Feigning fright,
children squealing
in delight."

In the fifties, we could trick or treat without much thought of danger. This is very well written with good imagery and descriptive scheme. Good luck in your contest.

Yeah...I remember, but those days are gone. Now they want you to take the candy to hospitals to be x-rayed and the churches all have "trunk and treats' because it's not safe on the streets. Really sad! Smiles, Carol

Un fortunately. That's modern life. I heard in my mind that you were dressing up as Lady Godiva this Halloween. (LOL)

Charlie
You missed it...I was Lady Godiva last year. I thinking maybe Marilyn....
Smiles to you..Carol

Hi Carol! This is a charming little Halloween frolic! It reminds me of the hordes of kids that will come knocking on my door soon. The little kids are so cute, but some of the teen-agers that come around are bigger than I am! I think you nailed the septolet form by depicting the holiday as eerie in the first part and delightful in the second. Two parts coming together to create a vivid picture. Good luck in the contest! - Karen ;-)
