A very dark poem. It sticks nicely to the structure of the cinquain. I hope you fair well in the contest. It has a nice flow and I particularly like the imagery, even if it is dark. Good job and again, good luck in the Cinquain contest.

Oh, what a sad poem, in cinquain form. Short sentences, strong effect. Cloaked by sorrow; empty heart ... what a life she might have endured! Good luck, Carol.

What a sad pathos poem
Well I guess if someone is so over wrought with sorrow DEATH is one way to rid their misery.

Hi Carol...this cinqauin poem is so very dark. But then Poe is one of my favorite poets so the words sing to me.

The picture you chose for this one sets it up perfectly.

I have seen too many kids like this in my day.

These lines are especially evocative:An empty heart cries out,

Excellent read, the topic sad but true. It's such a shame when people feel at the end of their rope. That's why we need to try and speak with compassion.

Hi Carol, read this Cinquian,

I didn't notice anything sticking out to change. It has a darker feel to it, enhanced by the picture, which for my mood... I actually in my head added at the end... of death to all the negativity trying to take root in her mood.
