Amen and AMEN, my sister, and I'm sick right along with ya. Does no one notice that the government has the very same sickness as the populace, and that until we BOTH get a handle on our spending, we are going down? Great write with great brevity for a 1-2 punch. :)

Yes, we all had a hand in it. But could not happen without the deep-seeded corruption within Congress. They forced banks to lend with much less scrutiny and no regulation (while they received nice campaign contributions). Insidious and incestuous. Thanks much for your review. Sue

Goo dmorning poet friend. Well, I agree and enjoyed the poem and it's message. Americans were warned about this, but did not heed. Reaping seeds of selfishness and greed. I enjoyed, Loyd

Didn't really need the author notes, though your comments are appreciated; the poem by itself makes your argument very effectively. I like the first and last lines the best.

Hi, Sue.
it seems the whole world has the same policy.
I can't understand how EVERY country can borrow. Who are they borrowing from? I understand basic economics, but the current day is beyond me. There's only so much 'real' wealth in the total pot. Oh well, I couldn't be any worse off financially, so it won't effect me much. ;-)
Love, Ray xx

You nailed it, Ray. There is only so much real wealth! I'm worried sick over it all and I'm pissed! Won't get started. Thanks much for your review..Sue :-))

I think you hit the nail on the top of it's head. This is how the World war started last time. Let's hope things turn around quick. Best of luck in the contest, I placed my vote for you!

Dear Kid,

Good naani poem and a very unusual subject. I agree to a certain extend but remember the Feds can always print money. (LOL) Don't fret since our grand children will pay. I am fed up with both parties, Reagan deregulated the banks and this allowed unfettered capitalism to rule, greed became common place and we forgot the Ist rule of commerce is to apply common sense. Just think, Bernie Madoff headed the SEC. Canada did not deregulate their banks and they are in a very good position now. Bush trumped Reagan. He spent more on military (hard to believe) and allowed shaky financing practices to proceed full steam ahead. The democrats (most anyway) are all for philanthropy if it doesn't involve there personal wealth (like Nancy Pelosi) and it is the tax payers money. O'Bama says he is a green president but continues the program on ethanol. (Gosh, you Iowans keep planting more corn and turning it into fuel. Subsidies is what it is all about. I hope you didn't get bored with my soap box speech, anyway good luck in the contest.

Best of regards,

Winslow

Don't worry about the soapbox. I get up on mine sometimes and can't get down! HA! I'm sick of the lot of 'em! We're getting screwed by them all! Corruption has set in so insidiously. This has been going on so long, maybe it will take all this crap to wake everyone up. Zero faith in either party. I'm now terrified of hyper-inflation which seems almost inevitable with the debasing of the dollar. I say it's time to storm the Bastille and oust all of them in 2010 elections! Or is that just wishful thinking. Thanks much for your review and comments! Isn't Pelosi just a prize package!! Sue :-))

So true.....So true..... But who knows? Maybe Obama will pull a rabbit out of a har. The chances though...Not so good. As the boy from that movie Angels in the Outfield said: It could happen.

The only thing that can come out of the hat after devaluing our dollar is massive inflation. It's like a roaring freight train coming our way. Supply and demand is like the laws of physics. Just can't be defied. Thanks much for your review. Sue

You got your message across loud and clear; we in Australia are feeling the ramifications of America's demise. I would think americans would be angry, scared and wondering if they were heading for a depression; lets hope it doesn't go that far. It hasn't happened overnight and it can't be fixed quickly. I think your new President has scruples and is not a warmonger. He at least is trying his best in such a short time. No quick fixes. Well done.

In his short time he's been in office, he has managed to do the opposite of what should have been done. Have you ever been broke and "spent your way into prosperity"? Nope. And neither can America. He and Congress have an agenda that frightens the hell outta me. All party politics aside. Everyone here is as mad as hell! Up is down and down is up in Washington. Thanks much for your review. Sue p.s. Australia's property valuations have bubbled also. Hoping you can have a softer landing than us. :-))

Sue, I gotta give you six stars for this one. You speak for millions of people, believe me.

In its brevity, this poem is profound and relatable. I love your play on words. Your phrasing works very well.

Poetic Friend, I am very, very upset with these mind-blowing numbers. And I'm not sure if there are hidden agendas. (I think there are). Because none of it makes any sense. Thank you so much for your highest review of this piece. It comes from so much love for our country. So glad you felt it worthy of your 6 stars! So much appreciated, Sue :-))

I think the naani form was the perfect choice for your reflections about the economy and our debt. Your "auction" metaphor and matching picture were outstanding.
