What a great picture you have to go along with a marvelous poem. Again I love the poems about animals and nature. This is truly a grand sight to behold. Great job.

"feathered bedroom eyes." Priceless line. So apt, so perfect, so unexpected, it made me laugh. An interesting subject, since the peacock has always represented the epitome of male sexual display. Lovely art work, great presentation.

Hi Sue

Peacocks are truly wonderful birds - they make one hell of a racket too.

I liked your "August" haiku

Cheers

Chris

feathered bedroom eyes - now that is just one of the best satori thingies I've ever read in a haiku - it's witty, and it is a perfect image!!! This is simply grand - I would so give you a six if I had one, and that is so sincere. :-)
courtship's august adornment is also pretty damned good - august, have not heard that beautiful and elegant word used in a while - you've outdone yourself with this one, lady. Brooke

I'll take your sixer in my heart, Brooke! You're right..."august" is a lovely word, isn't it. I am SO glad you enjoyed this haiku! - now, where's yours again? :-)) Thanks for your awesome review! Sue

This is just lovely and a creative entry for the haiku contest. I love the imaginative last line! Who would think of that! Only you. Good luck.

Marcia, thank you so much for your lovely compliment! I am working so hard with haiku. What an exercise in learning brevity!! Thank you for your great review, also. Always, Sue

You're so right! Haiku hones the skills on brevity for itself and other work. Do try it. M

Your 5-7-5 faithfully follows the haiku form and includes a fascinating satori with those "bedroom eyes". There is so much going on here, with the double meaning of "august" and the use of alliteration. The picture is magnificent especially to one who used to keep peacocks in Pomona eons ago.

Joan E, that is so cool that you used to keep peacocks! You would have seen it all. Thanks so much for your very generous review. Always appreciated, Sue

    Yeah, hard to believe, now.

Where we live there are a family of wild peacocks. They go from grove to grove and it is a real treat when they visit us. You are right...the mating dance can be heard echoing for miles in our canyons. Very nice word painting and artwork.

LOVE that satori, girl--sexy, funny and educational all in one! It's hard to impress me with haiku, but this one did. Bravo!
