The rictameter seems to be a very good vehicle for your "penance" theme. "Releases one of guilt and shame" is a very powerful resonating line. Thanks for sharing. You should do an "on-line" book of this form.

Joan, that's a good idea! I wrote another one today, but haven't posted. Thanks for that idea. And for your great review! Best to you, Sue

Hi Sue....boy you have your talented pen smoking now! This is another good rictameter...don't know why I don't write them more often as they are fun. You did a fine job with this one. Profound wisdom in the lines....blessings....chey

Your really getting the knack for these Sue. This is another excellent rictameter. Penance is an interesting topic to choose as well. Have you been bad lately?

Ha! I wish I could be a bit 'bad' for a change :-)) Don't know why I thought of that word. Love these rics! Going to do a couple more. Thanks so much for your review. Always, Sue

Penance is not a word used much anymore - and boy, it should be. Our society tends to be hedonistic and if people would just take a look at themselves and see the truth, "I'm sorry. Please forgive me." would give them such relief. I think, as your rictameter so wisely states, atonement and forgiveness renews faith in mankind. Excellent contest entry. Best of luck to you. Blessings always, Linda

And no self-examination. No black and white for actions or accountability. ALL grey these days. Sad. Thank you for your great review. Means so much, Sue

Knowing my circumstances from reading my work, you can easily appreciate, when I tell you, that in reading this particular revelation[ it is to me] that I got a little emotional. The significance and very strength of your poem is very enlightening, inspiring and highly motivating.

No_obstacle, penance is ours for free. Thank goodness we don't have to jump through hoops to have self-examination and do where our hearts take us from there. Thank you for sharing your deepest feelings. And am glad you told me you received something from it. That is what I love about writing. We are all human and can relate to the man needs we each have. With fondest regards, Sue

A clever piece of verse,
my friend - with a smooth
flow to it.
I've never attempted a
rictameter, in fact, I'd
never even heard of it
until I read one here on
site.

Regards,
Margaret.

This is a very well written piece, although a little hard to follow. However still a very good write and a wonderful take on life. There were no errors. No typo's and nothing to change as far as i can see. I look forward to your next one.

This is a really good rictameter, I can only assume it is for the contest. The subject matter is very good, penance, healing and forgiveness and you chose the words carefully. Excellent Kay
