Hi,Sixteezkid, I have suffered from anxiety all my life and i keep taking the pills but sometimes they do not work,as you probably know. But sometimes people don't believe you and that makes it worse. So thankyou for sharing the problem, we should all do so as it does help,
Yours Chris

We must not worry about others "believing". It is their problem. Simply say, "go read ALL about it on the internet and learn". HA! No, I have not had the experience of an anti-anxiety not working. Either a valium, xanax or ativan should do the trick. That's a bit of a mystery. Do you have General Anxiety Disorder or that PLUS panic attacks? Thanks very much for your review. And thanks for sharing your story. With regards, Sue

Oh, yes, I know. My husband has suffered from it since childhood. You describe it very vividly! And they don't want to give vaium anymore... Excellent.

I don't get that one. What do they think anti-anxieties are made for? There is ativan, xanax, etc. These drugs were MADE for major anxiety. I'm at a loss. My doctor has no problem. But, of course, I don't misuse them and see her at least 4 times a year. Hmmm....I hope he doesn't suffer from them too often!! How is he doing? Thanks for your great review, Marcia. Always appreciated, Sue

You're welcome. Valium is 'addictive', and doctors in California have been making it tough to get. Xanax is my husband's stand-by now. He has an anxious personality but doesn't have full-blown anxiety attacks anymore, or hasn't for a long time. Thanks for asking. It was such a mystery for so long, and for those who don't suffer from it, it's easy to say, 'suck it up'. I hope yours are under control. Modern medicine can be such a life saver. Thanks for sharing you outlook. Hugs, Marcia

Very well written. Those attacks certainly are hell on earth. There's no other way to describe 'em! I think this poem is really well done. It flows well and the artwork is fabulous. Did you sketch it yourself?
All the best,
~Aurora C. :)

Hi Sue...I feel so sorry for those who are afflicted with this debilitating problem. Working in the medical profession I saw the worst and the best of panic attacks. I do believe it is like hell on earth to the patient. So many won't seek help because they think they can overcome it but that seldom works. I must say I was surprised with your last two lines but if that is what you feel then you should have written it just like you did. I wish you well....blessings....chey

The last two lines were indicative of the frustration of trying to "get through it". The brown paper bag works mildly. One tries so hard to get through it by any means, finally give in to the pill that will make it completely disappear. It makes you feel like a deer caught in the headlights. Frozen in fear. Thanks very much for your review and comments. Always appreciated, Sue

Hi Sixteezkid,
If you can believe this.. I was born with anxiety disorder. It is "Hell on Earth!" I was not diagnosed for a very long time. It has kept me from so many dreams and its left me disabled collecting disability checks. I have a biological disorder with a lack of seretonin and must take Zoloft every day. I know how you feel. One of the biggest problems is having others realize this is not your regular anxiety. Riding a bike is not going to help. I am seeing a Psychiatrist along with my medication. If your not ...it may help. The Dr. may be able to give you a more effective medication. I just wanted you to know your not fighting this battle alone and hope these words help.
Prayers with Blessings,
Helvi :o)

I was hit with this after my daughter was born with a disability. I think the "overload" was too much for the brain to handle. I had help a long time ago and thankfully, it worked. I do occasionally get the odd one, but rare now. Thank you for sharing your story. You are right. Some believe that if you just go "blow off some steam" or go to the gym, you can overcome it. I cannot be possibly understood by anyone unless they've experienced it. We owe no explanations. I'm not sure how Zoloft is helping you alone. You're not on any anti-anxiety medications?? How long have you been on Zoloft? Would be interested to know. Thank you for your review. With regards, Sue

This is really well written and easy to read until the final line - it loses some of its rythmn. Maybe it is the use of the obscenity or maybe just that valium doesn't rhyme. It is powerful though and I think you intended a little shock factor at the end.

Yes, the last line was intended (not for shock value) but for emphasis on the frustration of the panic attack. The line is intentionally not metered or meant to rhyme. Thank you for your great review. I'm glad you liked it, at least up to that part! :-) Sue

I've never had one, but my wife has. She thought she was dying. I'm so calm that if if took a valium, I might go into a coma. I love you poem.

OK, I have indeed been there (5 years of Paxil to prove it) and it is hell on earth, feeling out of control of your own runaway body, and you depict it well here for those who've not had the pleasure. Excellent piece. :)

Don't I know Mr. Paxil very well. Sorry to hear you've had to go through this also. Thanks for sharing your own experience. "runaway body" is a good way to put it. Thanks for your great review. Regards, Sue
