This is a very provocative and festive Senryu for the last night of the year. I like the fun words, such as bright, cheer, and two thousand and nime. Best of luck in the contest.

I like it. The form is correct, syllable count is right, and of course the content is great. Good disconnect (satori) too. Write on.

Great title, picture, color and 5-7-5 format.
Very clever theme and well written. I also enjoyed the alliteration in the first line.
Thanks for the good wishes and back at you!

This made me smile, especially since I grew up in the big apple.
Clever and cute.
Well presented with apt photo, colorful and joyful.
2009 - good satori, though I am not sure why!
LOL
Reading hopefulness in between your short lines. This would have made a good entry for the new year senryu contest.
Warm Regards,
rama devi

rama devi, you grew up there! Once a New Yorker, always one! Very glad you enjoyed this (and gave you a smile). This was written for the contest, and I made a boo-boo when I posted it, so Tom is going to have it in there by tomorrow. Thanks for your very kind review and lovely comments. With regards, Sue

Lets get to Christmas first friend! Awesome photo you used there, have you been one of those million? Way to busy for me but I do love that one night in the year, the hearts I've stolen, ha ha. Very cool!

Hitch, my man! No way have I ever, nor will I ever, be in New York on that day! HA! I'm not a 'million-crowd' kinda gal. You are such a "PLAYA". The hearts you have stolen, you bad boy!! And I believe you! Thanks for the great review. Your friend :-) Suc

My bad boy days are distant memories... ALMOST! ha
unfortunately I was that bad boy I'm afraid! It took a woman from the oppisite side of the world to TAME my hungry heart, and I'm forever grateful to her for that.

And when that special one is found....isn't it grand!!

Indeed It Is!

These days, you might want to change million to billion! I think everyone watches that thing drop anymore. A very nice 5-7-5 Sue. Happy (hic) New Year!
Your cuz,
Curt

Yo! Thanks for the great review there, cuz.
You read my mind, though....thought about the word billion when I started to write (we are definitely cuz's). But then decided to make it about just the people at the square.
Oh, on a side note: Thanks for the great review LOL!!!
Happy New Year to YOU!!!
Sue

The picture sets the tone
and then the words follow
illuminating the big apple
drop which brings the cheers
and the kisses for two thousand
and nine.
Well done

Great job! With such minimal use of syllables you have carried across your idea very clearly! Ah, where have all the years gone? This is something I guess we can't stop no matter how hard we try. Happy holidays!

Good. A great little haiku...guess that are neither big nor small. The message is clear and the words are well chosen. I like the disconnect. Very good.
