Well, this poem took courage to write. But alas, all of older people understand from whence you speak. You explained old age very well. I have those same aches and pains, and the pharmacy on a chair under my counter. And I like how you have these complaints, but just decide to go on with life, "I'll go home and bake." A delightful poem!

    talented150,

Thank you for the wonderful review. Those of us who are older can relate to those aches and pains. What can we do but carry on the best we can.

With age comes memories, achievements, knowledge, respect, with this, knowing that we are better than we were, we have earned our pain and graceful looks, and now we can bear it, very well written****kahpot

    Kahpot,

Thank you for the wonderful review. I am glad you enjoyed the poem. Some days are better than others. We did indeed earn it. Just a testament of our younger days.

You're right about that! Aging isn't for wimps, as they say! And I'm glad you're here finding creative ways to rant about aging as we are mostly in that category wishing for new parts!

You took the words right out of my mouth. I turned 79 a few weeks ago and am determined to keep going, although as you notice, everything hurts and there are all those darn pills.

I share your sentiments precisely. But doesn't it feel good to laugh about it, especially with friends? One of my favorite lines is "I have a pharmacy under my sink"...don't know why, but it tickled me. The final line is perfect...who doesn't feel better after a piece of cake or cookies? Loved it.

What an excellent poem and picture presentation supporting - your poem is well written and is a self observation I can readily identify with - taking tomorrow in stride as the observer of my 80 something, body naturally aging - first annoying - and then challenging - not to let my body keep me down - walking everyday with my cane. Thank you for sharing - fellow traveler - Bless Alan

    Alan,

Thank you for the wonderful review. You have a few years on me and it is tough on a good day to keep going. I know a body in motion stays in motion, so I have to keep moving.

You're so right. getting old is not for the faint-hearted. I love your rhymes and the fun look at a not so fun part of living a long life.

The best line is : I have a pharmacy under my sink

I remember my mother saying this to my father.

And it was true .. I'm like my mother who never took her pressure or went for an annual check up.

I also like the line : I need new parts.

It does take longer to get the stiffness out of my body in the morning and I don't have the energy I used too.

The worse thing is having less hair .. my strands are still fine like silk but I had stacks of hair. I got my mother's spaghetti hair .

Pa's had curly like Cupid's

Those who have thick strands are lucky especially as aging advances.

There is nothing nice in getting old or being old .

    Tempeste,

Thank you for the wonderful review. There is nothing nice about aging. Like you say it takes the body longer to get moving in the morning and what is energy? Hope you have a great evening.

Your rhyming poem isn't metered, but the message is still strong, and I can relate to it. I'm reminded me of a humorous book I have called "The Golden Years Ain't for Wimps." I enjoyed your poem, as it made me smile.
