The ending of this romantic poem assumes that the son she gave to you is no longer living at home, so when it says, "Now there is just you and me," it means the son has grown up and become a man who no longer needs assistance from his parents, and the two of you are experiencing empty nest syndrome.
Now you can do all of the things you have put off doing together and be free to be all that you can be.
