At least Dougie has made it through the night. I hope the police are as observant about the tyre marks as Miranda is, and will widen their scope as to what really happened. Their thoughts, emotions, and worries are all realistic, and well portrayed. Good job.

Mitch is good, but he only goes by hard evidence. Miranda thinks outside of the box. Between the two of them, it will be solved. Gretchen

I suppose it is good news that Dougie probably won't die, at least it makes Waylon happy. From the description of the scene of the murder, I suppose someone could force a car off the road coming toward them by taking up the middle of the road, but it still doesn't make sense that Dougie would go after the teacher.

Thank you, Carol. It will probably be a while before Mitch and Miranda will get on the same page. Lol. Fireworks soon. Gretchen

I couldn't sleep, it's 4am, and I found you'd posted another chapter of Miranda!! Now Miranda has been to where the fight happened, she has loads of questions, and I'm right there with her. There isn't any way Dougie could have forced Tomlin's car off the road, not going by the signs left there. Hmm, was there a third vehicle involved, did Dougie pull over to help Tomlin and ended up badly hurt himself? I wonder if Mitch is thinking the same as Miranda. Lots of questions, and it looks like Dougie could end up dependent on full time care, we won't know any of the answers until he wakes up. Great chapter, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

I really enjoyed your chapter! The way you describe the hospital and the tension in the air feels so real. I could almost feel the quiet in the hallways. I loved how you showed Miranda's thoughts and the mystery around Dougie's situation. It kept me hooked the whole time! Keep up the great work - I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!

She is in a very deep pickle. Everyone now knows about the money. Dougie knows. He will do everything he can to glom on using Waylon as his wedge. Dougie is the roach that doesn't die. He will come out without a scratch.Karen

Thanks, Karen. Hopefully, the head injury will keep him from remembering. Lol. Appreciate the review. Gretchen

But, everyone and their neighbor is gossiping about it. :-)

A well written chapter, and yes bad things happen everywhere. With Doug being a primary murder suspect, I am a bit surprised there are no police, at least outside his room. Waylon's actions are normal for young man, even with the past, a son would want to be there for his dad.
notes:
The nurse {on} charge gives me a pass to go to Dougie's room.
-The nurse in charge gives me a pass to go into Dougie's room.

Thank you for spotting that edit. Im pleased you enjoyed this. Where i live on the Outer Banks (considered "paradise" to tourist) if crimes happen, which is rare other than drugs and B and Es, the newer locals are outraged. But crime is everywhere. Bad luck, cancer, infidelity, you name it. Where ever there are human beings you're gonna have bad things happening. Thanks for the review and stars. Gretchen
