Interesting poetic form. I'm not familiar with this one but enjoyed reading and learning about a different form.
Perfect syllable count and artwork to complement your work.
Nicely done and Happy New year.

Does the cherita poem have to be alliterative or is that your preference? I quite liked it, especially the comparison with destitute dreams. I thought it was a useful simile. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not a poet and know little about the rules so I will stick to what I see.... the sand castles. What a wonderful way to pass the time on a warm sunny beach, knowing like life, the waves will come and wash all the hard work away. The cycle of life...

I thought this was interesting. I don't know much about this form, but there was a sense of rolling in the rhythm of the lines here, that mimicked the wave action. There's an ephemeral nature to the imagery, of the sandcastles being washed away, like someone's dreams being washed away in the realities of life. estory

Comment from Father Flaps
Hi Joan,
We used to take our kids to PEI every summer. We stayed at Adams Seaview Beach chalets & cottages. Seaview is every bit as nice as Cavendish Beach, but much more privacy. Cavendish is always crowded. The last time we were there was in August of 2020. But my youngest son and daughter have been there the last few years. It was more exciting, taking one of the ferries to PEI. But now, people drive across the Confederation Bridge. That's a bit scary for this old timer! But I've done it twice. And one thing we always enjoyed was helping the kids, and now grandkids, in making sand castles! We always included a moat that would fill with the incoming tide first. But eventually, with stronger waves, the castle would melt like butter, bit by bit, vanishing like a dream.
Nicely penned! Thanks for the memories!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Hi Kimbob,
A moat is always a good idea to make a sandcastle last longer.
Thanks for the review and the memories.

Isn't that how life goes sometimes - the best laid plans go awry with just one fell swoop. We can't control our circumstances any more than we can the tides. We just have to reconstruct!

This is a great Cherita poem that you wrote. It is so true that all of the castle made will wash away wwith the tide. Wonderful poem.

Wonderful alliteration throughout, and the thought of such a beautiful day, I would let all my sad dreams drift away with that wonderful sandcastle, a great form for all to try, very well written****kahpot

Oh boy! Another new form to put on my list to try! I like this style. It's brief but not constraining as to syllable count. Your poem is perfectly themed as it is -- and metaphorically speaks to all the "castles" we built that (alas) do not last nearly as long as we'd hoped...
Nice "S", "C" and "D" alliteration!

Thanks for reviewing my poem. It was fun to do. I can't wait to see yours. It is sad how quickly some dreams fade away.
