An Australian Christmas

This is a fun take on Christmas from down under the hemisphere where it is as though it is summer whereas here in Maine it is snowing and full of wintery wonder.
I love the humor and creativity of the style used to show us how it is in places like Australia.
Thanks for the laughs.

Thanks, Jesse. We had some snow a few days ago, but it all got rained off.

At times, I was confused whether we were talking of Australia or a "darker, hotter place," but then poetry does that to me at times. Santa's North Pole is surely a different site from Australia.

Thanks for the review, Carol. I wonder what Christmas is like in that "darker, hotter place". I'll bet there's a poem there.

Very nice concept.
Of Jesus Christ â" our good Lord's Son â" - These characters can be fixed in edit mode.
Is wearing woolen under draws, - In the U.S. we would say 'drawers' but hey, it's poetry - anything goes.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for the review, Wayne. You are right about "drawers". I had a brain cramp.

He'll be using Santan lotion. I wonder, would he be saying, "Ho, ho, ho, Merry Goodaaaay?" Dang kangaroos bouncing all over the place. He won't be able to get them to calm down. The candy canes are all going to melt. Ohhh, why would you bring such a nightmare to life. This is creative. Now who would be this creative here on fanstory? Good luck to you.

No problem mystery writer.

The prompt said, 'let your creativity flow," and you did. I enjoyed reading the thoughts of someone from cold, snowy Maine. Your well chosen words demonstrate the thought you put into the possibilities of Santa visiting Down Under. I really enjoyed your contest entry and wish you the best in the contest.

Thanks, Lorraine. We just lost all our snow, so I guess we won't have a white Christmas here on the coast of Maine.

Oh what a cute poem about Christmas in Australia, as imagined by someone living in the coldest part, pretty much, of the United States. You had some clever ideas and suggestions. I can just see old Santa having to change clothes as he passes from cold to hot and visa versa.
Best of luck in the contest,
Rhonda

Thanks, Rhonda. I also wonder how he handles the international date line.

A fun Poem for the contest. An Australian Christmas gives one a glimpse of Christmas down under.
Excellent rhymes and a fun piece.
Blessings and Merry Christmas

Thanks, Janet. We just lost all our snow. I guess no white Christmas this year.

Even though I choose to no longer celebrate Christmas, I am overcome with delight at the awesome creativity involved in putting this delightful poem together. I kept waiting to find a misstep, poor word choice, something out of place. Nothing I love this poem, and yes I am going to place my vote for this wonderful piece.

Thanks, Nolan. We won't be doing too much celebrating either. Old age is taking its toll.

As an 81 year old great grand father. The kids under me have plenty of people to celebrate with them if they choose to do so.
Comment from Tim Margetts
I love this poem's humour and the way it looks at life in a different direction. My brother lives in Australia, and he tells me, contrary to popular myth they don't tend to have Christmas barbies on the beach. But it is super hot as a rule :-)
However, I have had to mark it down as it is not free form, it is a poem using rhyming couplets in (mostly) iambic tetrameter

Thanks for the review, Tim. I can't seem to bring myself to write unrhymed poems.

Ciao,
For me, Christmas means snow and ice also. I find it hard to imagine this time of year in the sweltering heat.
Drinking cold beer and trying to keep cool.
Instead of kangaroos, I could see those wild dogs called dingos pulling the sled.
I enjoyed your last thought, that no matter where folks celebrate Christmas, kids will be happily opening gifts on the 25th.
