This is an excellent commentary on the true meaning of Christmas. To say it is Jesus's birthday is a misnomer since the scribes of the Bible say he was probably born closer to June or July, sometime in the summer but nonetheless, the spirit of the season is captured well in this large printsized poem of the birth of the Lord.

Jesse, since the 25th has always been when we celebrate Christmas and the real date is unknown, it's the 25th to me. Thanks for the review, Jesse. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

All so true my friend. Many have lost sight of what Christmas is all about. May we all find the grace to say, "I love you and I am so grateful for you in my life". I find if I humble myself before my lord, I get all that I need from him. That every day, I find a present from within that warms my heart.
If we can all find this, just think we'll save on the gift wrapping this year and all to come. Happy Holiday and always grateful to read your poetry. Shadrach

You bring out the true meaning of Christmas. Materialism has taken away the joy of Christmas and presented us with a big bill after the holidays. An excellent poem.

Absolutely, Willie. The real reason for Christmas often becomes submerged in the rampant and crass commercialism that surrounds the festival of Christ's birth.

good poem expressing your views on Christmas. I do have a little factual disagreement with your position though. From what I have read, Christ was born probably in March or April when there was a supernova event widely visible in the Middle East and seen as a great omen. the early Christian church leaders in Rome declared that Christ was born on December 25 so Christians could celebrate a holiday with other people on Saturnalia and therefore not stand out and be persecuted.
