Carol, this is such a sweet story, a sort of modern-day Dickens' Christmas Carol, without the Scrooge, but loaded in charitable kindness. It reminds us so vividly that, not only should Christmas not be purely about material things, but that it should reflect good neighbourly support, friendship and cooperation.

Thank you for sharing your excellent, festive offering, Carol. Merry Christmas! Debbie

Oh the wisdom contained in this wonderful story, I know that love is magnanimous, it is the only thing that doesn't come with a price tag on it, it comes from a grateful and generous heart, I mean how long can expensive things satisfy? But love is eternal, well done, blessings Roy

Wait! Didn't he give his mom the box filled with hugs? I would like to have seen her reaction.

Another nice Christmas story, Carol. You've been bitten by the Christmas bug, it seems. And it sounds like you'll be spending time with family during the holidays, as you stated in one of your replies to me.

Enjoy the season, and keep the holiday spirit coming!

We hear different stories every year as to why Santa Clause won't be coming this year. Last year, rumor was, he wasn't coming because someone shot his root off, or maybe it was his Rudolph. But this year, I think he and I will be bass fishing at Lake Okeechobee. Oh, well, I'm old, and could have dreamed it. Thanks for sharing.

Please don't tell me you are one of those "freeze my butt off" guys who wants to sit on a bucket out on a lake with a line bobbing underneath the ice waiting for a fish? Warm weather is fine, but no way would I sit out there in the cold.... not for all the fish in the lake.

Nope, not me. I'm a fair weather fisherman. Actually, I haven't been fishing in many years. I used to go to Lake Okeechobee in Florida twice a year for, two weeks at a time, but that was to be where it was warm. LOL. And I liked it most because Clewiston, Florida, where I stayed, is 60 miles to each coast. I could party in West Palm one night, and Ft. Myers the next. Smiles!

My parents spent 40 winters in Fort Myers. I loved it there. Of course, I didn't get there as much as they did, but when I did, it was beautiful.

I had a good time there at night. Of course, West Palm had a lot more action. LOL. It's funny how we change. Nowadays, I'd prefer the peace and quiet.

People enjoy heartwarming holiday stories where an unfortunate person or family is surprised by the generosity of a caring person or family, and ends up having a beautiful, meaningful Christmas. This is such a story that leaves the reader smiling and satisfied after reading about the true meaning of Christmas.

You certainly know how to tug on the reader's heart and emotions! This is a heart-warming story with an emotional ending. Nice touch to have Katie not only speak the truth about Christmas, but to demonstrate it as well. Blessings. Carol

Thanks, Carol. I hoped to show that it's easy to speak the word, but to live it is another thing. Glad you enjoyed it.

Carol,

Another fine story. Christmas really is about love and sharing it with friends. That was so nice of Katie to take Timmy under her wing and making sure he had a nice Christmas.

Well done my friend. You should compile a bunch of short stories and turn them into a a book.

Cecilia

This is such a marvelous story and I very much enjoyed listening to it. It flows very well when it is read aloud, and it shows a perfect picture of what Christmas should be about. We often get it caught up in all the things that money will buy Instead of figuring out ways that we can do something for someone by giving them a homemade gift or giving them something like a box filled with little papers that say on the papers this is your hug for today. I truly enjoyed this story. As I wipe the tears from my eyes, I would like to say to you merry Christmas. Patricia.
