Debbie,
This is a wonderful poem about the hedgehog. It's sad that they are on the endangered species list. You poem speaks volumes of how the hedgehog is safe for the winter.

Thank you so much, Cecilia, for your kind and thoughtful review! Let's just hope no one sweeps away his winter bedding:( Take care Debbie

Debbie,
You're welcome. We have to say a little prayer for the hedgehog so he doesn't get swept away. Have a great evening my friend.

Very beautiful image, and a fine Renga poem to accompany it. That hedgehog does present a sense of peace and security, and somehow I thought of the Christmas Carol "Silent Night", perhaps because of the words "sanctuary" and "peace". Lovely one.

Such a delightful poem! What a perfect picture to describe a peaceful winter's sleep - a hibernating hedgehog! I especially liked the "leafy sanctuary!"

Thank you so much, Helen, for your kind review! I forgot that the hedgehog isn't native to the US but they're still around in the wild, apparently. Take care Debbie

One of the dialogues I memorized in second-year Russian class was about a hedgehog. I never saw them in real life especially not in Hawaii. 😂

This lovely poem prompted me to do some research on the "renga" style. I had never heard of it. Who is the other author? Is your book of renga poems co-authored by many others or just one other author? Thank you.

Thank you so much for your kind review! The book is actually Gypsy's inspiration and it's a collaboration of members writing alternative 5/7/5 and 7/7 verses. If you go to the top of the post where it says 'chapters,' you can see the preceding ones. Have a go:) Take care Debbie

This hedgehog has the right idea. I have been sleeping a lot lately and I am thinking I might even be related to the little guy. LOL. But this guy looks like he is snug as a bug in a rug. This is a wonderful 5-7-5 Renga. It is so sweet and cute. Leave it up to you to come up with something so clever. Awesome job, my dear friend!
Love, Debi

Thank you so much, Debi, for this lovely review! He does look snug doesn't he? Just as long as no one decides to come along and sweep up that pile of leaves with Herbie Hedgehog inside:( Love Debbie

Excellent chapter for our Renga Book. The Renga form has the right renga composition. Beautiful presentation. Good syllables and connection between lines. Thank you for participating in our book with such a beautiful verse.

Thank you so much, Gypsy! I'm so pleased because my head always goes into a bit of a whirl with instructions! Well done to you for a great idea and I guess it can go on and on and we're not restricted by how many contributions we make? Debbie

I hope I didn't over do the directions. It's the kind of teacher I am. Some people need more help than others.
I loved your renga poem.

I like this poem, Debbie. It makes me want to crawl up in my bed -- become a Hedgehog? =), and find peace in winter's sleep. Brrrr, it's so darn cold today.
Hedgehogs remind me of Possums that freeze when a car's headlights hit them (as in Florida where they are common). They often get driven over.
Love the image.

I love animals, cuddly or otherwise.

Hello Debbie.
I have become familiar with the renga style, but I don't venture into writing Japanese style poetry. Your poem is well written and it is a picturesque description of the picture you have used. To me, the style looks familiar to an epigram. Nicely done.

The first two lines flow and connect well. The last line says it all! It is
wonderful how animals find ways to have peace. This poem is a good
example of this. The artwork is awesome! Great Poem!

Thank you so much for your lovely review! They are clever little creatures but not clever enough when venturing out across roads, sadly. Bless you. Debbie
