Anyone that's been married would know when the marriage is falling apart, to a large degree I was like Trenton, and Elaine probably like Marchand, this is the second story that could have been written about me, or for me, heh heh, but that was a long time ago, well done Beth, , blessings Roy

That is hard to believe you were like Trenton but I think there are a lot of men like Trenton. I'm glad you marriage didn't fall apart. That for the six stars.

Not quite as bad, I loved my family, but loved sin more, there have been some doozies at church, I guess to those that much is given, much is required, I'm honest with God...and grateful.

Nothing is his fault. He is an addict, If it is not drinking, it will be gambling, which he was already doing with investments. He is probably being unfaithful as well. It's all in the package, she cannot trust him. She needs to think of herself and the kids. He broke his vows already. He has been lying his heinie off. My thoughts only/ Karen

Marsha certainly needs to get all of her ducks in a row. It's been my experience in life that, a liar and a cheat is always a liar and a cheat. And not matter how many times you think they have changed their wicked ways, they always slip back into lie and cheat mode. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric. It hard to risk giving up someone who thought was a loving husband for 20 years and realize he had always been a cheat and liar but is coming to terms with it.

This isn't really Chapter 13, is it? Wow, Time is going fast! I like the way you're approaching this subject, something like we might have seen in the golden age of movies, instead of the expletive-laden works of the present. looking forward to more.

The real story behind this took place in the seventies. For the most part, it the true story of my best friend's marriage. I knew all of the people so I can't publish this unless under an assumed name as many are still living. My friend had bad instincts about picking men.

At least you have good instincts about your writing.

Marsha needs to talk with a lawyer and see what her rights are, and she probably needs to get a job because if Trenton doesn't have a job she won't get any child support. You're doing a great job with this story.

Well, the devil will what if you to death. seems as if Marsha has gotten trapped into a situation. Perhaps it is not as bad as it seems. Good one, Beth.

This is definitely the best chapter I've read! your dialogue is excellent and very credible and it's so pleasing to hear Marsha being strong and assertive. Also Trenton lying through his teeth and quite the Jekyll and Hyde character when confronted with his lying. Understandably Marsha is now not too far off petitioning for divorce. It wouldn't take much, I think to tip her over into that legal scenario. Good for her! And you, Beth:)) Debbie

I really did enjoy this chapter in the book of this marriage and its troubles. When Trenton went into rehab, it was important that he had the rehab. I applaud Marsha for making the decision that she was not going to help Trenton get out of rehab sooner than he should. So many times when people go into rehab, they want to get out sooner than it is necessary and it is a detriment to them. Patricia.

Thank you, Patricia. Rehap doesn't work until the person there is determined to make some changes in their life.

Beth,

This is a great story. It show what life is like living with an alcoholic. I can totally relate to this story on a personal level. I lived it the first 10 yrs of my marriage. Thankfully, he had an ah-ha moment and went to rehab an found Jesus. Hasn't touched a drink in 16 yr.

I found one small error:

It (be would) easier to live-(would be)?

Great job

Cecilia

I'm certainly glad you husband accepted the fact he needed help. The best and sometimes only help comes from God. Someone people ways to late to realize that need help and ruin their health in the process. Thanks for reviewing my story.

    Beth,

    You're welcome

My sister-in-law was one of those people who waited to long. Her organs started to shut down and she passed away. It was sad she was only 48.

Isn't it amazing how we can surprise our self with what we are capable of doing when the time comes and a change is needed. Trenton has his "system of lying" down so well that he can almost rattle every reason off at the drop of a hat. But it's going to catch up. And Marsha..well. she's learning how strong she needs to be and that she can do it. Now she needs to get legal advice and then decide which way is best for her and the children. Good job!
Smiles, Carol

Thank you, Carol. I think we are all capable of more than we think is possible. Sometimes we are forced to find out.
