Your rhyming verse outlines some of the emotions attached to depression. I don't know if this applies to you, Cecilia, but I know it can be a dark hole from which it's difficult to escape. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful stream of consciousness. Take care Debbie

Then go out an(d) play

I am sorry to hear you suffer with depression and how real this struggle is. Not being able to sleep at night does not help either. Your honest words are poignant and many will identify with this dilemma Cecilia, love Dolly x

Depression yes is real, I know my brother passed away in July this year suffering with depression and other mental problems. It's hard when you have depression in the family when one has it and others don't understand it. I am glad to hear you at least have a dog to help get you over the bumps in life, they wouldn't let my brother have one. It sure would have help keep him alive. Great write. Take Care, great write!

    Angel,

Thank yo for the kind review. I am sorry for the loss of your brother. My youngest son who is 26 suffers from depression and he is always telling me he wants to die. He is on medication and still feels that way. I get it, but don't totally understand why he feels the way he does. As a mother I feel totally helpless.

Oh yes,, I think we all want to survive, why? Because God says I was created for good works, so that's what I'll do, I will work, and tell people that they can ' relax' why? I'm not absolutely sure. Well done Cecilia, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Such an easy poem to relate to if you struggle with depression. It is so difficult to get motivated when feeling like that. One things that always helped me? Puppy snuggles! Thanks for sharing.

I hope this isn't something new and personal going on with you. If it is, you can always talk to me regardless of where I am, and that includes North Carolina. If it's just your new efforts at poetry, you did a fine job. Depression can pack a wallop.
Smiles, Carol

Depression is an awful thing, a silent debilitating ailment that is such a struggle for some and so sad, as there can be so much stigma around it, so many people don't get it, they don't understand. You have capture a lot of the struggles here in the poem very well and I'm sure many will relate.
One observation on the last line - is that 'and' not 'an'. Well done it can be hard for people to write about this topics but also helpful, take care. Well done.
Best Wishes

About the time I started through the change of life I became quite depressed and had to be hospitalized several times for it. But now that I'm through the change of life, I seem to be very stable and I do not have the depression swings like I used to have. This is a lovely poem and I wish you the very best with your writing. Patricia.

Me again, I really love your poems, they say something to me every time. We will see or type each other again and again. I also feel depressed at times then the dogs stare at me and say take care of me.
