I knew that's what she would do...investigate of course. Fancy that, some sly person has managed to get his sticky fingers on Brian's invention and make a profitable usage for, but mixing dirty stuff with it, that's the problem, well done, Blessings Roy

Yes, it's gotten out. Exactly what Fran and Brian hoped would never happen. Soon enough we'll find out how, but then they have to figure out a way to stop it. There will likely be some more science involved in the solution.
And then we'll also have the Big Pharma angle as they attempt to quash Glyptophan. This will be a 2-pronged story.

Looking forward

Ouch! That's a nasty situation. I wouldn't know how to begin investigating this but then, I'm not FBI. It looks like someone from the pharma industry trying to get the second version discredited.
Info well laid out through recall and dialogue.

Thanks very much, Sally. That's a very good thought about the street drug being introduced to discredit the good drug.
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
Fran is exactly the character you described when she was young and her brother's "parent". She is very cool and, of course, she will investigate. It will also help keep her brother busy as the human tests are going on. I can hardly wait to read more.

Thanks so much, Carol. Yeah, I thought she deserved a bigger role than in the last story. She's quite the exceptional woman. I hope you enjoy the other two main characters too.
You remember Dana Padgett don't you? She was Abby's nemesis in a couple of the stories. She's the one who stole the golf suit when they were younger. She's older and wiser now.
I think you'll be amused by the third character who hasn't been introduced yet. You'll remember her too.

Another great chapter! I almost get tickled every time I hear for read about someone getting a paid suspension, for whatever reason. It doesn't mean they are being distanced from the problem or investigation. It only means they have more time to do whatever they want, which is most likely, whatever they were doing before, times 4. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Ric. I think that's how Fran sees it too. She's not one to sit idly by. (Nor do I think her boss wants her to, despite what he said in front of the IA guys.)

Thanks, Jim, for assuring me that my take is on spot. :-)

This chapter delivered a punch, Jim. I enjoyed the twist given on Fran's nickname from the past. Clever! Of course the drug has been copied. Now to find out how this happened. I love that I got in on the ground floor with this book.
God bless,
Steve

Thanks very much, Steve, and for those 6 stars too. Yeah, I didn't plan it, it just so happened her initials ended up being FKP. It was just too juicy to pass up using that nickname.
A couple different plot lines will exist in this story. The other major one will be Big Pharma's reaction to Brian's new drug, Glyptophan.

Sweet! I love it when things like that happen.

Let me say first hand Jim that you have progressed ten fold as a writer in the two years I've been back with FanStory and I've read each one.
In the previous novel, it was clear all the due diligence you put in. This one, though different will require the same and I look forward to reading it.
Thank you,
John

That's awfully kind of you to say, John. Thank you very much. I think its presenting to so many readers and getting reviews, especially the negative ones, that have helped me improve.
Thanks for those 6 stars too!

I am very curious how this drug got out. I'm sure Brian had nothing to do with it. Can't wait to read more.
Thing-1 began. "A new opioid has recently & Once seated again, I began. "You are correct. (began,)
I took another sip of water and continued.
"The idea was that we would give him a newly (continued, & move dialogue next to 'continued,')

Good instincts, Barbara. We'll find out pretty soon how it got out. Now, what will they do to stop it?

The background information on Fran's name and history within the department is interesting, and helps us understand who she is. But, the final statement she made about spending her free time investigating lets us know she is going to find herself, along with Dana, and Brian, in all sorts of situations with all sorts of people. I look forward to reading the drama.

Yep, she's a bit of a maverick and isn't going to take this lightly. This will be more of an action-adventure type novel than the previous ones.

With Everyone wanting a big payday. Having a campaign to impugn the new drug by flooding the market with the inferior product is extremely clever. While her brother was high, who knows who he talked to? Karen

That's a very interesting explanation for things, Karen. Not the approach I'll taking, but intriguing nonetheless.

Being suspended from duty and still drawing full pay doesn't sound so bad. I would thing she might be in better position to find out how this drug made it to the street and how it is being reproduced than most. I guess the department doesn't see it that way. I like your new story.

She has a pretty good idea how, but I can understand why her boss tells her she can't be involved in the investigation--while the two IA agents are present anyway.
