Such a beautiful recollection of so many promises ... all sung in the wonderful key of 'Sir Roy'! ;) Thanx so much for taking those words and reminding us of all of them! ;) Yvette

You're exactly wrong, the past is the past. We can't change the past no matter how much we want. Sitting around thinking and worrying about the past changes nothing but waste precious time. Everything in your poem is true and reflects the word of God. God bless you Roy.

The first line drew me into your poem: "The past is past and won't return, unless one dips in mem'rie's urn." A lot of people that I know live in the past, letting the present slip by.

We can only ever look to the future. As much as there are things we might like to change about the past, we can't and can only learn from any mistakes we've made. A well written piece, Roy, I really enjoyed reading it.

I like this poem that features the passage of time. You've included past, present, and future, and the future certainly looks bright. You included some great Scriptures. I particularly like the third stanza, about God's constant presence. Blessings. Carol

In these days when all manner of people are clamoring about reproductive rights, I wish they would understand that it is God who controls the human growth nd who knows us from the moment we are conceived.

Time's candle burns for us all; what a poetic way in which to express our days on earth.
Thanks for sharing this aabb style poem with us - one of my favorite forms.

Thank you for sharing this poem and these verses with me. I really needed to read this and them right now. I am very worried about our upcoming election. I've been praying about it for months. I know God's in charge, so not sure why I'm worried. I guess because I'm human.

There's great peace in this poem, a resignation to the plan of God and an acceptance of the transition from this life to the next. I thought you had a great, contemplative voice for it, the images of that burning candle a classic image of the passage of time. estory

You are right, we should live for the day, yesterday has gone, tomorrow has not arrived. But, I have memories of the past I can't put aside, they are painful, but I can't let them go. I do try to live for the here and now, and do succeed sometimes.
Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble......
Those are wise words, tomorrow will come soon enough, let it be for now. Well done, my friend. Your poem is so well written, and your author's notes are very well chosen. Love and hugs, my friend. Sandra xxx
