I was so hoping your reaction to being hit by that piece of cake would be to sit there and eat it. I'd have done exactly the same. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. When life hands you chocolate cake, have dessert.
I found it very interesting the way you wove reality and fiction into your story. I read Rachelle's second interview with you, so I understood the significance of those cars. My wish for you is that, one day, your fiction can just be fiction, not tinted by the pain and horror you've had to face. I do admire that both the real you, and the version of you that you created for this story, had/have the courage to internalize and deal with everything that's gone on, and still lead what seems to be, finally, a normal, happy life.

Such a heavy load I carried for so many years when I write it out. I get to give pieces of it out to the world. Everyone takes a tiny one and then very soon.The weight on my shoulders begins to lift. I was lucky enough to grow up in a good home with loving parents, and one of the most important lessons they taught me was to talk out my problems, for exactly the reason you write yours out: problems are easier to bear when you're sharing the burden.
