I love how so many people think that this country can be taken down so easily. The Democrats and Republicans have worked tirelessly for over 60 years to do this internally. The real power is in the Senate. Opinion, of course. You WILL NOT have a dictator or king in the US. Every president has slowly tried to center power on himself, but our system of checks and balances always prevails. And it will prevail against him. He didn't become a dictator during his last presidency and won't in January 2025. Emotions and passion should probably stay in poetry not politics. Don't get me started on his personality though. Jeezzz. With LOVE, Eean. No hate needed.

Eean, I hope you are right. It didn't happen in the last Trump's presidency but this time, The Supreme Court has given Trump the power to do anything he wants. He would be in power with no guard reals and he cannot be stopped. Have you read the Project 2025? Have you watched Trump's interviews and rallies? He is losing touch with reality. He doesn't make any sense. You can google it. Don't depend on Fox. Try neutral news like PBS American public broadcaster network. He is not the man he was in 2016. He was never a good decent man but his mind has deteriorated immensely and he is hungry for complete control of our country and our laws. Republicans have the majority of Congress and the Senate. They will do whatever trump wants.
I pray Americans will unite and vote for Harris, I already voted.

No, there will always be restrictions. Biden has those same powers, remember? I'm a Democrat, but Biden should not be able to pardon Hunter for any of his traitorous activities. Don't be blind to either side, that IS how Fascism begins. Sorry to disagree with you. This is why I don't like politics on sites like these. All I did was disagree with another person here and now we don't speak. This should only be about creative writing and poetry. Just an opinion.

I'm not American but I can't wait for the American election to be over. I really hope Trump doesn't get in again, I think it'll be seen as taking a step backwards if he does. A well written piece.

If you lived under a true dictatorship, you would never be allowed to post this poem without being arrested. Americans don't know how lucky they really are to live with freedom, love Dolly x x x

I'm able to post this because our president is, Biden, not Trump. Trump admits in publick he will be a fascist dictator from day one. The Supreme Court has ruled that presidents have complete power, they can do anything they want.... that is a dictatorship.
To each their own. Let's agree to disagree.

I always though that Presidents had a Cabinet? They can't decide on how federal money is spent, interpret laws or choose Cabinet members, Supreme Court Justices without Senate approval. They cannot declare war either. I don't think anyone in America considers their President to be Dictator. I have never heard of such a thing before.
