a nice retelling of a biblical story. I had not know much of this story -you re-told in making it come to life in your verse. I like these lines
Our Lord is called King David's Son,
an image borne by what God's done.
God wrote on flesh His love and grace,
revealing love...salvation's face.

We don't always understand why God does what He does, but He always had a plan. I keep praying that God will help the US out of the problems that lay before it. God's Will will always be done.

Any man desiring to be a friend of God and his son Jesus the Christ, must look at the example set by Saul's son Jonathan. This man denied familial ties to do God's will. Matthew 19:29 And whoever has forsaken houses, or brothers or sisters, or father or mother, or children or lands, for my sake, shall receive many times as much and shall have ... I believe this scripture pretty much shows the benefit of putting God first.

Although Jonathan died, he did so on good terms with God and as such he will be remembered with fondness and approval, unlike his father who died in disgrace.

I love the friendship between David and Jonathan. When I was teaching the kids at church, this was their favorite as well. They especially loved that Jonathan knew David should be king and stepped aside. Brilliant work as always, Roy.
God bless,
Steve

Are we willing to make such a sacrifice? Our struggle as Christians is going to get more difficult as this world continues to sink in the mire of Satan's grip. May we have the fortitude as Jonathan who put his faith on the provision of Jesus Christ. Well we written work.

It is so sad seeing what is going on the Holy Land at the moment. I would love to go there one day and see the sites, but I've always been put off by the troubles going on out there. A well written piece, Roy, I enjoyed reading it.

As always, you bless us with a story in poem form from the Bible and, of course, do an excellent job of telling it. Your notes help me to understand a little better about a story I had forgotten. Thank you for sharing.

I have always found the story of King David and the Book of Kings fascinating, if somewhat hard to understand at times. Thanks for this slice of David's story and for reminding us of Jonathan and his role.
