You were brave to do a chalk talk, and it sounds like the librarian hadn't thought well enough about the practical problems of needing a sturdy easel, so it was great that the boy held it steady. I have never heard of chalk talk classes at colleges. That must be only in the US. Well written. You have an excellent memory for all the details.

Thank you, Wendy. I guess she didn't realize how much pressure I had put on the paper to make it where the audience could see it. I'm glad I got help holding it.

Bravo! Beth, you had more guts than me. There is no way I would have been on that stage, and thank heavens the nice young lady helped you out. It appears Mrs. Edwards wasn't exactly prepared. Nice chapter. Very interesting.

Thank you, Carol. It was a boy who held the easel. That did unnerve me a bit but I got through it. I appreciate the review.

How talented!
This was a captivating read. Great work.
I'm a little surprised that there weren't boys in the story, maybe the next segment.
Best wishes.

Thank Wayne, there were some boys, but I didn't start dating steady until my senior year. Thanks for a great review.

I am just constantly astounded by your memory. I have blurbs of memory from Junior high and high school but I can only remember one or two of the teacher's names and nothing at all about my class schedule lol It sounds like your art is going to take you places. Very interesting stories.

Thank you, Marilyn. I'm glad you all were there to tell me that wasn't exactly as you remember it. You can't prove my memory is a 100% accurate. lol

These chapters are among your very best. I can't wZit till the story progresses into the fifties. In the last two months of my grade school, we moved into a new building a few blocks away. I wrote the Graduation Address that was selected for our school, but, unlike you, another classmate read it at the exercise.

In my school, I don't know who wrote the address but I think it was a teacher. We had one girl who never made less than A+ on anything so she was supposed to be the valedictorian, but her voice was so soft and she wouldn't talk in public, so I got to give the speech. My average was just short of an A I really appreciate the review and six stars.

The story of your life is very well written, and it almost parallels my own story as I grew up at the same time. That you did. I wish you the very best with all of your writing and I'm glad you made it through your school years as well as you did. Patricia.

How wonderful to be able to draw and I can understand how you would be scared to do it front of an audience. Your creativity with the money bag shows through. Great that one young man had the good sense to steady your easel. A great story, beth.

Thank for the nice review and comments. I was horrified to have that easel keep falling. We wore skirts back them. I've often wondered if the audience got a X-rated when I bent over to pick it us. I'm glad I got some help for the sidelines.

I enjoyed this chapter as you reached this new stage of development and liked the way Mrs Edwards trusted you and wouldn't let you slide out of your chalk talk. It's always a fun read because I often get the impression that things aren't going to go exactly to plan. I'm not sure if you intended to say 'links' but below is a more common expression, at least in the UK. Thanks for sharing another excellent chapter. Debbie

I went to great (lengths?) to draw...

Thank you, Debbie, I was glad she trusted me but too bad I couldn't trust her to get me better easel.

A talented talented artist who is creative in many other ways, which I would have figured from a long time ago when I started reading your work. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric, I'm not that talented but I enjoyed drawing. I just wasn't happy about doing in front of a audience.
