Another fine chapter, Rhonda....I don't like the stranger or the situation. What is he up to? Guess I won't know until the next chapter, so I'll stay tuned to this same bat-channel.

Hi Mike, thank you for the review!! The stranger is definitely up to no good and is on his way to try to get Diantha even more. He may remind you of a character type in my last book.
    Take care,
    Rhonda

This is definitely a creepy turn of events. We knew something was going to happen but didn't expect there to be such a show of violence and danger. Cassie has been strong and courageous, urging her friend to go while Diandra seems like a deer caught in the headlights. Fate will now drive her on, her wonderful horse taking the lead. This story has hit the ground running (so to speak), beautifully expressed in its haunting theme of the fantastical and unexpected. Well done, Rhonda. Take care Debbie

    Hi Debbie,
Yes, it does get a bit creepy, but you'll understand why in a bit.
You're right about fate and her horse leading her to her destiny.

    Hugs,
    Rhonda

These young ladies are in danger. I am hoping White Lightning is capable of getting away from this man and Diantha can get away and get help. I am worried about Cassie. This is a good write.

"You're Diantha Evans aren't you?" he asked. (Evans,)

    Hi Barbara,
Thank you so much for the coveted six stars. I appreciate your gift and review! I'm also glad you found the grammar mistake. It's hard to catch them all yourself!!

White Lightning is very capable, though she has a practiced and older opponent.

    Hugs,
    Rhonda

Oh my goodness! I wasn't expecting this! What a turn in the story. I have a feeling that Diantha's wild ride through the forest on White Lightning will take her to the unexpected. Her horse is already up to Concorde Valley's speed. A fabulous chapter, my talented friend. A six it is!
Sending you my best today as always, dear Rhonda, and Love & Blessings across the bridge.

    Hi Dear Sally,
Thank you so much for the lovely six stars, my friend!! Diantha's ride will do just what you predicted. Remember, all horse's know the way to Concorde Valley!! They only go there when the need is great!!
    Love across the bridge,

This is an excellent chapter, Rhonda. It takes some surprising turns of events. Diantha and Cassie are enjoying their morning ride. This is an interesting bit of irony with your line "Like riding the wind." In my children's book, I made up this quote: "When you ride a horse, you ride with the wind." I guess it's true what they say about like minds.

The man who comes into the story is creepy and pushy. As a reader, you know he can't be trusted, but I didn't think he would go to the lengths he did. I hope some of the ones on Olympus come back and deal with him.

I like how you ended the chapter showing the strength of Cassie and the devotion and determination of the two horses. It sounds like they have a plan. Very well done, my friend, even though I don't like this intruder.

Thank you so very much for the six stars!!! They are deeply appreciated.

That is so funny that we both fixed on the line about the wind. It's how I feel when riding, and this horse is exceptionally fast. Like minds, for sure!

The stranger has a deeper purpose than just a kidnapper, which you won't discover for a chapter or two. You are right about Diantha about to be around friends in high places, for sure. However, she's going to have to do some changing before being accepted by them. She definitely has more than one journey to make!!

Horses will play a bigger part in this book than in the last, which had many animals that could talk. This will focus more on just the one breed, which is good since I sort of stretched to too many in the last.

Thanks, again, for your careful attention to detail,
    Take care,
    Rhonda

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Rhonda. It was interesting to see two similar ideas. *Ignore the question in the message box about it. Thanks for sharing about the stranger, Diantha, and the horses. I will look forward to that.

Sure, most of my books start off a bit slow, and I'm not sure why, but usually pick up stream at some point. I think I worry too much about the back story and should learn to integrate it into the main one.
reply by Pam (respa) on 24-Sep-2024
I think that is probably the way with most novels. You don't want the big ideas and action in the beginning. Then what would you write?

You're so right. I like to set the stage, so to speak, and I like to grow characters. Most people didn't catch that on Echo. She started out pretty strong, but she was always questioning everything and everyone. In the end, she decided to go with the flow. She also learned to make sacrifices for other people and how to be part of a family.
    Thanks again!!

That was a tense scene when the dark haired man showed up, you had me wondering what he was going to do and what his purpose was. It makes me wonder what's going to happen to Diantha next. An excellent chapter, Rhonda, I really enjoyed it.

    Hi Jacob,
You won't really discover why he was there until the next chapter or so. There's more there than meets the eye. Thanks for stopping by to review. I'm going to try and catch up with yours as soon as I can. You are quite the prolific writer, lol.
    Take care,
    Rhonda

Oh no...trouble, and Cassie took the brunt of it. It's interesting how the horses seemed to communicate and take control of the action... Will the stranger hurt her or will he follow Diantha...though I doubt he could catch White Lightning? Another great chapter.... Now we wait to see what the stranger will do? And what happens to Cassie.
Smiles, Carol

Yes, Cassie does, and, surprisingly enough, will be someone Diantha can look up to later when she's learned enough life lessons.

And, he will follow... No story without conflict, right?

    Thanks for the review,
    Hugs,

I can see the plans you have fo Diantha in your story, she's a little bit all over the place, I hope Nutmeg will be ok, but white lightning has taken off with Diantha on his, such a good friend as a character in Cassie, so it's a great episode for that built in plot which is terrific, beautifully written Rhonda, blessings Roy

    Hi Roy,
Thank you so much for the excellent review. Poor Diantha is a spoiled rich girl with a good heart but a sad situation. She will have to deal with it around some very simple people who know how to be real.
    Cassie will be fine, incidentally,
    Take care,
    Rhonda

Diantha is indeed a frustrating character but it's consistent with someone who was never allowed to make decisions for herself. I like how you have the horses take decisions themselves. Hope Cassie gets away!

    Hi Helen,
She is indeed frustrating!! More will come out about why she is so overshadowed by her family and how the affects her personality. Like Echo, she will learn more than how to ride a horse in Concorde Valley. Which, by the say, she should be getting to soon. Story for another day,
    Hugs,
    Rhonda

Shame on you. How dare you leave me hanging like that? LOL.. Oh, it felt like that chapter went way too fast. It is because I am enjoying it too much.
This was incredible and now I have to start counting the minutes until next week.
What a wonderful story this is and I am so taken in by this one. I used to love mythology when I was a kid, so this will be fun for me.
Thanks for this wonderful chapter and I cannot wait to see what happens next week. I love this book so be prepared to have me as your biggest fan. Thanks so much. Much love and hugs. Debi

Hi Debi, thank you so much for the six glowing stars!! This chapter was much shorter than my usual, and that's because the next part needs to be told all at once and it would have made way too long a chapter. I might post another one later in the week, but not quite sure. Depends on how busy I get.
Thanks for being patient, lol. I think Sally's already gone to bed.
    Love and hugs,
