At first I thought she'd lost her pet, as it was a pet cemetery. So it was a doll, which was being replaced. When Sunny and I visited a nursing home for the elderly there was an old lady who clung to a toy stuffed dog, firmly believing it was real. Sad, but beautiful. Best wishes for the contest

Thanks so much Wendy... I wanted to show that regardless of who you are and what life has bestowed on you, you deserve to be treated as human and your emotions should be cared for. Susan didn't know the difference but Henry gave her respect and love.

This is an excellent story, well written. All along I thought it was a real baby, until Helen asked Henry why he went to all the trouble. An emotional read, with a good twist at the end, and a nice touch with the butterfly fluttering past the grave. Your story is a great fit for 'Going the Extra Mile.' Blessings. Carol

Thank you so much, Carol. I am thrilled that I could offer you a few moments of "warm fuzzies" and a hug. Of course, the butterfly is very special to me and represents so much. Thank you so much.

thank you so much, Brenda. I just wanted the reader to stop and think how important it is to give respect and care to ever human, regardless of their place in life.

I love this imaginative story, a spot unreality about it, but then a lot of people clig to something that remains in the realm of hope, even a figment brings a form of sanity to some. Watch litlle girls playing with dolls, or little boys playing soldiers, it maintains dreams of tomorrow, beautifully written, Carol, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy! I wanted to show that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their situation. Besides, warm fuzzies are my favorite of moments.

This is a very good feel good story and I very much enjoyed listening to it. It flows very well when it is read aloud. Your sentence structure your theme and your punctuation are all very good. I wish you the very best with all of your writing. Patricia

Blessings come in small packages - even ones delivered by Amazon. Great ending line. I love Amazon. I order everything from there lol! Excellent story. You kept me guessing until the end about the baby doll. I thought it was a real baby! Keep up the good work Carol!

Thanks again, Harry... I've been told to get back to the novel. LOL I left Angelo somewhere over Mexico in a jet.... guess he probably would like to get back down to Earth. Thanks so much for the review and for enjoying this one too,

Lol! Well, maybe a good plane crash would make for a very exciting story. And he is the only survivor!

My goodness, Carol. You have the ability to play with the old heart strings! This was lovely. You had me convinced it was a pet at first and really got me when the truth came out. I agree with the way they handled getting her a new baby. Your final line is perfection!

Thanks, Marilyn. I just wanted to make the point that regardless of what their form of reality is ...they need to be treated with respect. She thought the baby was real... thanks so much for the review.

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt entry with us. It touched my heart. We need more Henry's in the world
Henry glanced at her wild eyes, tear-straked face, (streaked face??? straked is a word but it doesn't fit here)

a renegade e on the lose! Thanks for the catch!
Yes, we certainly do need more Henry's especially in the medical field. Too many of them are all about the dollars and cents and not the patient. Thanks for the review.

Carol that is a six without doubt. You created the characters with skill. The whole story came together seamlessly and the ending was a surprise. I am impressed. Esther

I have been gone a lot. Newly retired, and my hubby and I travel. I love to read and I also have been reading Alexandra Fuller and Lois Lowry lately. When I have my nose in a book I am worthless until it is done.

That was lovely, Carol. I agreed with Henry, it was real to Susan, and thinking she had been given another from the angels made her happy again. Beautiful, my friend, Love and hugs. Sandra xxxx
I have made a start on my sequel, I won't be posting until I'm 100% ready. I don't know how you can write as many as you do, and they are all brilliant. I keep looking in for the next chapter!!!!!! No pressure, but I want to know what is happening!! xxxxx
