Fortunately, I've never encountered a new fan offering services. I've had a few fans that kind of scared me, making me wonder if they wanted more of a relationship than I was interested in, but that's about as far as it's gone for me. They are trying to scam. They are not very professional, not even bothering to read or review all these pieces they find so "amazing and creative". Others have received such messages also. I hope no one has paid out any money. I have reported them to Tom who is working on a solution. Thanks so much for your review. (I'm glad you liked my sarcasm! Lol.)

Wendy, do people pay for reviews? Or do you mean the member dollars to promote your work? It is a bummer if people do false reviews. Just like not right if people don't write their own stuff. I really don't like AI giving me writing suggestions. Who is Tom?

When you promote your work you are offering to pay people to review (how much you offer depends on you). That way you get more reviews and they get a little money towards promoting their own writing. These people have not bothered to read or review, they are just wanting me to give money to them to do some illustrations. It's a scam. Tom is the site manager. I have now had a fourth similar letter, this morning.

That makes me mad. Do they get money when we use their illustrations? Hooray for Tom. Hope he figures out how to stop them. I have been so impressed by many of the writers here and the site as a whole. It is a pity.

Oh yes, that's why they are flattering people, so they can do some illustrations - at a price. They are simply trying to get business for themselves, and hoping older people will be flattered into negotiating a "good deal" - and it wouldn't surprise me if the "illustrations" never eventuate!

I'm feeling increasingly uneasy about occurrences on this site. I've never received any message like this but I was sent a request for a war poem I did last year. This was purportedly for a publication on behalf of war victims. And I fell for it, only afterwards checking her site to discover she hadn't posted anything since 2012 but was still a member! When I tried to get back in touch (after disabling my poem) I didn't hear another word. We trust that our work is secure here but I have to wonder if 'members' appear to be merely passive onlookers with another agenda. I've also had my work regularly book-cased but never reviewed by that person which also makes you feel exploited. But that's another matter.
I love your sardonic response here, Wendy! It's the perfect way to warn others and send your ever-increasing family of siblings off with a flea in their ear (hopefully). Well done! Debbie

Thanks so much Debbie. I have now reported these to Tom (and sent to Tom all three messages I received). It seems others have also received such messages, or similar (some have reported to Tom, others have just deleted them). I worry that some FS people might fall victim and part with their money. Interesting about that war poem - is she still around? Re the bookmarking person: I have that same issue. When I acknowledge this, I say that I hope he will read and review as soon as he is able, but there is never any review. I am concerned too that he will later publish my work under his own name.
Thank you so much for this review. One can never be too careful. I am glad you liked my sarcasm! I doubt they will read it, but hopefully if they do, they'll get the message. They really weren't professional - their grammar was not accurate, and it was very clear that they hadn't read any of my "amazing" and "imaginative" pieces! Lol.
