How kind of you to make an effort to find the owners of this cat Wendy, most people would have just buried him. I wonder what he died of? It is sad to see a young cat die like this without the chance to enjoy life. This is an endearing and thoughtful post where you once again show your good heart Wendy, love Dolly x x x

Thank you Dolly. The owners said he had been unwell for a while, and they'd taken him to the vet a few times. But I think his death was still a shock to them. There are times when technology and Facebook are our friends. I very rarely share anything on FB, but thought this might be the only way of finding his owners. Thank you for your caring and compassionate post.

How very sad for this poor cat and often animals know the end is coming and they seek a quiet place to die. I am amazed you were able to find the owner and they must have been so grateful to you x x x

Thank you Dolly. Yes, I was fortunate to find them. I very rarely use FaceBook , but our community does post if animals are lost or found, so I gave it a go. They were indeed very happy to have him home. Thanks so much for a compassionate review

This was such a sad story. I'm sorry this happened, but I am glad you found the owners. I really feel for them and the fur baby. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

A-h-h so sad when we lose a beloved canine or feline - but what a 'good samaritan' reaction you demonstrated here and went to some trouble to find the owner. Inspirational!

Our cat, Whiskers lived to be 21 years old and was attacked in our yard, sunning herself, but an unleashed neighbor's dog. The vet said there was nothing they could do for her, so we took her home and made her comfortable until her time. She waited until I got home from work and died by my side. This probably 15 years ago. She's buried in her favorite garden. I do understand.

Hello Wendy,
I appreciate the care and compassion you had on the cat and the cat's family. So many people would have just discarded it. As you mentioned, without knowing for sure, you believed he was someone's pet and took the extra effort to make sure he was treated with love and respect. They way we treat animals says volumes about our character as people, and I think most of us on this site would agree that you are a top notch lady. Well done gal. Thanks for sharing.
Have a blessed evening.

Thank you Tom. I was very upset about it yesterday when I wrote this little story, but now I am pleased that I was able to find his loving owners, and actually feel honoured somehow that he came to our place. Thank you so much for reviewing.

Honestly, Wendy, you are the nicest person I have encountered in my entire life. You truly do practice what you espouse - that every creature matters and should be treated with dignity and respect. What a BEAUTIFUL piece this is - one that made me a better person just by reading it and learning from your example. But I know that was never your intention - you were simply sharing a story. And that is the part of your beauty I admire most of all: it's genuine and honest. No guile, no hidden agenda, no sanctimony EV. ER. A few more "you's" in this world, and we would be exponentially better off.

Yes, I was just sharing a very small story. I wasn't even sure if people would think me silly for sharing it. But I was so sad that the poor cat died alone on a cold night, even though I know they like to die away from their home. I was honoured that he came to my place, once I got over the shock and distress, and I am glad he was loved and that we were able to return him to his loving family. Thank you so much for the six stars. Each one is valued, and they encourage me a lot.

It's always so sad when we make this kind of discovery and we can't help but ponder over the moments leading up to the collapse. I'm a firm believer that animals know when their time has come and often want to find a private, peaceful place (possibly away from the noise of his family). Our interventions with the vet, for example, are not always in their best interest (in my experience) when they're subjected to all sorts of strong medications that simply prolong the suffering. It sounds as if dear Hugo was well loved and knew what he had to do. It's lovely, however, that you were there and took the time to reunite him with his family. Thanks for sharing. Debbie

Yes, they do know. And I believe too that they prefer to be alone and private for their death. He was loved and cared for, and they were happy to bury him in his own garden, but I am glad (now that the shock has passed) that he came to us for his passing. A lovely review - thank you!

It's very thoughtful of cats, and I suspect wild dogs do so too, to simply wander off, find a comfortable bush to take their final breath and fade away. I'd like to believe their is a rainbow heaven for our feline and canine friends, as well.

Yes, I am sure there will be animals in heaven. I am pleased Hugo will have no more pain. I find it hard to cope when animals die alone, or in fear or pain. Thanks for caring and for sharing.
