FanStory didn't say you couldn't use the music from another song, did they?
I like having a melody, because if I can sing along with the author's words, then the words make more sense and come together better. At least for me.
I found this loads of fun to sing! And I remember your Halloween poem/song; perhaps you'll honor us with another one next month?
Take care, and good luck in the contest.

Lol! Well, Katiemae. I must say this was a funny and interesting poem. I have never heard of Filksing, but I think I like it. This is a great poem and I liked the photo too! Keep up the great work!

Thanks Harry for reviewing. Try it sometime. Take an already written song and change the lyrics.
It's fun to do.

-Good artwork and presentation, Katiemae.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-You did a good job with your version of the song.
-I could follow the tune in my head as I read your poem.
-The repetition of the song title works well, too.
-I also like the chorus with the "sequels and prequels."
-My favorite verse is about the computers and cell phones.
-Very well done; thanks for sharing it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Rogers and Hammerstein would be SOO very pleased with your rendition of their tune. Your meter was FLAWLESS throughout (that's a math thing, so of COURSE you excelled at it!!), and your rhymes were perfect, as well. I was totally entertained. Good luck at the polls!! xoxo

This is a clever and funny rendition for the Write a Song competition. I was singing right along and you got the rhythm perfectly, the rhyming was great and it all flowed so smoothly and easily. I really liked it. Great job!

An excellent entry to the Write a song contest. This was so much fun. I love the song you chose to reword and I am all about geeks and nerds! Your words were so cute and you really covered the bases as to what nerds are drawn to! Good luck in the contest.

I remembered the song but I went to You Tube and found it and let it play while I read (silent sang) your song with Julie singing along too.... the tune fit your words perfectly. What a marvelous and fun time.

This is very clever! I've done this before, as well. It's so much easier to follow along when we have a tune "cemented" in our brain and can read your lyrics to it. (Or sing out loud if we dare!)
As a card-carrying nerd, this totally appeals to me!

Now this was a song! I loved how easily it lent itself to the tune of My Favorite Things. I think I might have heard Julie Andrew's singing it. Lol. This was fabulous. I wish I had a six. Gretchen

Nicely done! Identifying the song in the beginning had me singing your poem, and the rhythm is perfect. I particularly enjoyed the refrain. Your rhymes are great throughout. Best wishes in the contest. Carol
