I haven't read Sylvia Plath, so I read the poem and how it sounds and means to me. I love it. It's so well written and the repetition of the word "black" and "unseen" is so haunting. I guess readers will have different interpretation of what you are trying to say. Is it that you have horrors (your life so far) of the street you know well but are turning away from it, looking forward? Or are you dead in a car crash and are looking back before you start looking forward?
The poem leaves a lot to the imagination. Very well done. Would have given you a 6 if I had one.

Wow I loved this and wish I had a six for it! Not too familiar with her work but I'm sure you are so that's probably why I love this so much. Good luck with this fantastic entry!

This is an amazing entry for the My Favorie Poet competition. I've read The Bell Jar, but I went back and read more of her work just to refresh my memory and I think you've done a wonderful job of capturing her writing style. Your words have a tempo and pace, the repetition is emphatic, the presentation and construction excellent. You've done her justice. Well done!

If I could give a seven, I would for this poem. I don't read much Sylvia Plath, but this free verse piece just exploded off the page for me. The sense of rhythm, the sense of the staccato music of language here was top of class. 'And my feet, quick to turn back, my back, quick to turn fast from the street I know so well, that is black, black, black like the pits of my eyes' the effort in putting together these echoing 'ack' effects was also top of class. You really created this almost alarming disquiet of the soul, and the contrast between what's happening inside and what is seen on the street is just as black and white is it can be. A terrifying portrait of depression, in much the same way as the 'Scream' by Munch was a terrifying but necessary painting that expresses these emotions that can overwhelm the human soul. estory

Well done with the use of imagery, sort of like a collection of thoughts, in the style of the haibun, with a short, sharp narrative, good use of repetition and alliteration, well done, good job, blessings Roy

Now, your words have painted a very dark struggle and one that threatens to tear you apart if you weaken and look back or second-guess yourself. You struggle with your demons but a wisp of hope makes you go forward not back.

This poem is very well written though I'm afraid I don't know the poetry of Silvia Platt.
It's a dark poem of a travellers journey, to me it's showing to me that no matter how difficult in life the road gets keep on going and don't look back. Though I feel a lot of pain in the poem too. I really like the style with the rhyme and repeating of the word of the title through the poem. Well done
