That's a very interesting post. The nurse showed little (or no) tact or understanding. People need to be asked for their preferences. A strange situation with the scent of the roses. Well done. You have remembered all the details with great clarity.

Kay, This is a very interesting and well written Nonfiction story you have penned for the contest. You are so right when you said they were not dead, but only sleeping in the arms of the Lord! love and blessings, Teri

Your story really touched me. The way you captured the mix of emotions, from the shock of your mum's passing to the frustration with that nurse, felt so real. I could feel the tension, especially with how the nurse handled things--it made me think about how different people can unintentionally affect us during such a raw time.
The part where you described the Mass and Fr. Pat, with the sunlight through the Rose Window and the sparrows, was beautiful. It felt like a moment of peace amidst the pain, and I loved how it contrasted with the earlier tension.
The smell of roses in the car was such a powerful moment. It's like your mum was right there with you, letting you know she was at peace. That connection between the physical and spiritual worlds came through so clearly, and it brought a sense of comfort to your story.
Overall, your story was moving, honest, and had a beautiful blend of grief and peace. Thank you for sharing something so personal.

Aussie, what a lovely post, with the exception of the male nurse - what a jerk!
I wonder why the Anglican churches all said no - oh, no, it was just one. still...
How nice of your friend to ask you to come for a week. When my husband died, a friend in a little town not too far from me asked me up to relax and get away for awhile. It was really nice, and I appreciated it.
I imagine being a psychic has its good and bad points, but the gift of the roses was really neat.

Hello my friend. Many thanks for reading and I was getting a 'No' on that church, the church didn't say no. Yes, it does have it's good and bad points. Especially when we know ahead what will be and there have been many times I wished the gift away. My dad was psychic too, a very quiet man that just listened. He taught me so much as a child. Bless you, Kay XX

Aussie, would you read my latest post, please ma'am? It's a silly thing I wrote in the middle of the night night before last. Now I'm working on Chapter two, but had hope more people would read one before I posted two. If you would, I'd really appreciate it. However, I guess you're asleep, now. hmmm. Oh well, maybe later?
