Hello Wendy,
I didn't realize that Australia has the same traffic patterns as England. Your steering wheel is on the right hand side of the car and thus your roads are opposite of America. I would have a very difficult time driving there.
We have a 2019 Ford Escape. For the most part I like the modern conveniences. I love the back up camera, since I have a hard time turning in my seat to look around anymore. I don't have a built in GPS, which doesn't bother me. I think if I had one, I'd remove it. A GPS can work both ways, thus allowing the government or whomever to keep track of where you are. The only person who needs to know where I am is me. Having a heated seat is a plus too. I'd be aggravated if the car talked to me all the time. I'm sure I would be going to the dealer and getting the situation fixed. Thanks for sharing this gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Yes, like England we drive on the left. I got used to driving on the right when we lived in Saudi Arabia and also when I lived in Europe. I will switch off my driving advisor as soon as I can figure out how.
    Thanks for a thoughtful review!

This rant was spectacular! I got a real kick out of this one, though I'm sorry it is at your expense. I hate that my "new" car cuts off at intersections. It's not as vocal as your car, though. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thanks so much Jessi. I believe I will switch off her advice as soon as I can figure out how! My husband is quite useful for helping with chores, so I'll keep him! Lol. I am glad you enjoyed this one.

Thank you for sharing your rant. My husband, Brian, not only would have silenced this thing, but he'd also have figured out to do completely get it out of the car. LOL I doubt I would have like it either. I enjoyed reading this entry and good luck with the contest.

Wendy, I wish I had a 6 for you on this little treasure. you had me giggling throughout. Those smart cars can be so annoying and your examples are perfect. Good luck in the Write a rant contest.

This made me smile. Your writing is funny, though the situation sounds infuriating. This story kept my attention all the way through and is a solid contest entry, in my opinion.

Thank you very much, Mintybee! A lovely review. I have decided to keep my hubby, as he is very iuseful for helping with the chores, and unscrewing tight lids, and making a cup of tea!

LoL. No, please don't trade in your hubby. I think all people tend to do that. But I think we'd have shut of those "helpful" voice warnings by normal. Your car is way more intelligent than mine, bought 4 years ago. It only gives the rear camera and beeps when we are turning because it thinks we're changing lanes. Fun piece. Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks so much for a super review. Yes, I have decided to keep him. He helps me with the chores, and sometimes makes me a cup of tea! Lol.. This one is five years old but hasn't been driven much. I think she'll be switched off as soon as I can figure out how!
Thanks too for the good wishes.

"Voices in my head ..." Oh, don't talk to them openly in public. People will say you've gone loco.
"My (not so) smart new car!" If it's technology/man-made, it will surely fail you at some point.
"I bought a new car about six weeks ago." Woohoo, you go girl--spend that money.
"Please obey all road rules!" she exclaims." Well then, she had a good auto education.
"should I trade her in and get a new car which is more intelligent" Nope, she's like your adopted baby now--can't get rid of her, and just have to deal with her quirks.
"Or should I trade my husband in and get one who drives better" Hmm, sounds more reasonable, but jury's still out on that one--will provide judgment very soon.
Good luck in the contest.

I must admit we don't have a car as intelligent....or irritating as that. But my beef is that everything talks back to us these days. All these robotic voices reminding us of things we haven't done or demanding to know every last detail about ourselves before providing the assistance we've been waiting hours to receive. But I wouldn't trade your husband in. He's just a natural rebel and has my full respect:)) Well done, Wendy, on this excellent rant. And good luck! Debbie

Lol. Thanks for this super review. My husband is here to stay - he helps with the vacuuming. To be honest, he probably can't even hear the voice about traffic regulations as he has hearing loss now. S

Haha! I loved this reply. I've got the same problem with my husband. He can't hear and I can't shout anymore!

I did not realize that cars could now tell you to "obey all road rules" - geez! That would bug me.

I turned off all the notifications on my car and use my cell phone for navigation. I do like the back-up camera.

I just want to get where I'm going - I hate all the gadgets. And they say we have cars that don't even require us to drive. When THAT becomes standard, I'm getting rid of my car and taking public transportation.

What a rant! Glad you feel better:-)

I used to manage quite well with just my phone as well. Lol. And speaking of driverless cars, our city this week opened a new metro system with driverless trains - so that public transport option might not be so great either. Lol. Thanks for a super review.

Those back up cameras about do me in. I never look at them. I do the old fashioned head on a swivel technique. As for the verbal alerts, I don't even turn the radio on half the time because I crave the silence. I'd be cussing like a sailor having "her" chirping at me all the time. I know they say change is good, but sometimes they cross that line. Great rant. Gretchen

Yes, I think she has crossed the line and become unhelpful. I am sure most people have switched her off. Thanks so much for a freat review. I am glad you could relate.
